Defenetly a + to see more neons getting ready for next year.

also, NHRA just posted this rule change.

Page 28 (eff 09/28/07)
Engine Containment Device: Remove “Both engine diapers and catch pans mandatory for 2008.”

defenetly a headache saver...

ENGINE CONTAINMENT DEVICE:
Engine diaper or catch-pan device to capture oil and debris in
event of engine failure mandatory. Where exhaust header passes
directly under oil pan, two-piece diaper may be utilized. FWD
vehicles using OEM manual-transmission case must also have
such a device for the transmission, to capture oil and debris in
event of transmission failure. If catch-pan device is used, catch pan
must employ minimum 2-inch-high lips on all sides. Lips must becoved or curved inward, so as to contain oil in pan. Catch pan
must cover entire area below engine/transmission. Catch pan must
extend from radiator support to firewall and from framerail to
framerail. In all cases, lips must be adequate enough to contain oil
in the catch pan. Should a competitor spill excessive oil from the
catch pan and debris onto the track, he or she may be disqualified
from further competition at the sole and absolute discretion of the
event director until catch pan is upgraded, regardless of height of
pan lips or pan design. Both engine diapers and catch pans
mandatory for 2008.

I am interested in this build. Please give more info to us, i.e. Motor build, intake and exhaust manifold, transmission and drive train set up, head and valve train, suspension, ect.... Do you plan on just running sfwd to have fun? Or do you plan on being a competitive threat in the class? I know a couple honda guys that will be running 9.30's 9.20's, and I also know the Red Sled and I have some plans up our sleeves. I hope the best for you and I really hope all goes well for the car.

So.......... give us more info........... Please!!!!

We are shooting to be competitive.. We have the cars weight close to class min and the turbo is good for 850whp, plus the Nitrous on top of that..
We are gonna try and stick with a stickshift and see how that pans out.
The combo is a one off motor. Using the 13 years of my Know how on building these motors. We are starting with baby steps. The motor is nothing anyones tried yet. We have over 1k in machine work on the block alone.. and a Forged crank. This gonna be a very high rpm motor, higher than the k series spin. We'll see what we can get away with.

you grabbed my attention with that sentence right there. our motors are torquey enough and now it'll rev higher that one of the better japanese motors? sounds like a deadly combo for a fierce setup!

The intake is a custom large tank design Based off of a manifold Jack Roush designed for a Chrysler touring car project from 1996. The head and valve train come from our setup we used when we where Prostock racing and made peak hp at 9800 rpm and shifted at 10,600 rpm. The turbo and exhaust manifold pics are already in this thread, I think. We are using our twin disc clutch and our new low ratio first gear input shaft. I think we should do ok..
We are only running to have fun as we can only afford a race or two a year.. But I wanna win those two races..

I'd say it's a safe assumption that the minimum weights are going to go up across the board for next season.
