interesting. May i ask why going lower compression is the answer for your goals when there are already tried and true combos using stock compression or even flirting with 9.0:1?
Nevermind. He wants to be the fastest 91 octane car.

time to start piecing my build, and this is #1 for my list.
will i need different length rods? or will eagles rods do?and are those rods good for 550hp?
shoot me a pm w/ a price for the pistons and which rods to go w/ preferably. going w/ an hp61, and want 550 hp, so i need rods that can hold up.
thanks
mike
The Eagle rods will hold 550 whp But they are rpm limited to about 7500rpm. I can also get you a medium duty Crower rod for about the same price as the Eagles. I'll get you a pm with total for everything.
I would recomend maybe a s362 or S258. We have made 580 on the hp61, but that was fully maxed out.

and i ask, why go high compression and flirt w/ the motor's life?
higher compression = higher risk of detonation at the same amount of boost.
i have no clue why people insist on going 8.8:1 and try boosting the shit out of the car. thats going to lead to if you dont have a watchful eye 24/7
this has NOTHING to do w/ being the fastest. my whole concept has always been be the SAFEST while making great power. my timing has always been high on all my setups, but my KR/detonation has always been non-existant. ill never push my setup so that it'd be on the edge. and thats what a 8.8:1 would do imo.
and +, 91cali piss is a joke. ill keep my car on the same boost as i am right now on the stock compression, but the car would be THAT much safer.
nemo, shoot me the info on the modified squirters. so its 580 for the squirters, pins, rings, AND pistons, or excluding the pistons?
even 580 on a 61 maxed would satisfy my needs. i just want a great highway killer. the tracks around here are too far for my tastes, and my car see's the freeway more than nething else. i believe the sc6152 can be had for $750, and that fits my budget for the complete build. car wouldnt be seeing above 68-7000 revlimit max w/ a max of 550...if possible, 600 seen on race gas. and that'd be only 2-3 times of this car's life that id ever run it to that extent. if you think the eagles are good enough for that, ill just do that. if i can save a penny here or there, then thats good for me. college student paying for his own build is hard when money made is pretty minimal.
so shoot me a quote for 7.8:1 pistons/ eagle rods/rings/pins, and i guess the modified squirters (what needs to be done to those, and why?)
get fm custom rods. they are good for 700hp and 550 bucks. they are the same size as the oilver (almost 800 bucks)rods but made from different metals (one is made of billet steel and the other is made of titinium).

i never saw em on FM's confusing ass website.
i know im being a cheap ass, but i think ima just get the eagles. for $350, theyll fit my budget and do what i need em to do for 97% of the time.
only time ill ever really use race gas/high boost is for a dyno time or to impress some girls to get in their panties...
budget and build shouldnt be used in the same sentence, i know, but im trying to be efficient w/ what money i do have. which isnt alot.
