Right now I have 18x8 Tork Champions on the car with BC coilovers, but I can't go very low (less than about a 4 finger gap) in the back because my tires will rub (225/40/18) around corners. I used to have goldlines and my tires rubbed when I had those. I'm looking to sell the wheels I have and get some new 18s, but I want to make sure that these won't stick out so far so that I can drop the tail end of the car more.
What offsets should I look for in a 7.5" and 8.0" wheel? I can't seem to figure out what the offset of my current rims are. I think they're 38, but I'm not sure. Its supposed to be stamped on the back of the wheel, but it's not.
Obviously, I'm not as worried about strut rub since I have coilovers. Thanks for your input.

do you rub on your fenders? cause this is about the same set up i'm going to go with except maybe 18x8.5 maybe x8 depends on the wheel i choose. I wanna go low too but this is what i'm afraid of. Do you have any pics?
The higher the offset, the more the wheel will sit inward.
The lower the offset, the more the wheel will sit out.
If your looking to go pretty low then stick with a 7 or 7.5 inch wide wheel in a 40-45 offset. A 8 inch or up may limit you with your drop because you have to use a lower offset.

I haven't even rolled the rear fenders and the top of the tire is tucking slightly, absolutely no rubbing...the front is a different story though

Anything short of having to run negative camber, rolling fenders or some other modification, will result in SOME rubbing depending on how low you actually set the height.
If the OP doesn't mind doing the above then the possibility of rubbing is minimized. If he doesn't want to do the above and he wants to definitely go lower than his current coilover position, then the only option he has is to reduce his wheel width and increase his offset.

I'm repairing my car from an accident, so I'll be repainting the car, so I'm not worried about the paint cracking. I'd imagine running negative camber would cause uneven tire wear right?

If you keep it to a reasonable amount there will be little to know difference in tire wear...
I don't really know of any disadvantages of rolling the fenders
