Some of the tires listed are noisy, but I can't really run down the whole list.

okay thanks for the recommendation

OK, I hope to rework the first post soon with all of the new tires. I'm not going to give the breakdown in sizes just yet but I will give you the performance categories and the top selections for what I feel can fit either the best performance in that category or the best value for the category. None of these are in any particular order, just as I see/type/remember them.

Extreme Performance Tires
Yokohama Advan Neova AD08
Hankook Ventus R-S3
Kumho Ecsta XS
Bridgestone Potenza RE-11
Nitto NT-05
Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec

Maximum Performance Tires
Bridgestone Potenza RE-050a Pole Position
Continental Conti SportContact 3
Continental ExtremeContact DW
Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
Sumitomo HTR Z3
Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT (new and not much info yet)
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric
Pirelli PZero (just this, no other words in model name. very important)

Ultra High Performance Tires
BFGoodrich g-Force Sport
Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport
Kumho Ecsta SPT
Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2
Fuzion ZRi
Yokohama S.drive

Ulta High Performance All Season Tires
Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position
BFGoodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S
Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season
Goodyear Eagle GT
Yokohama Advan S.4.
Yokohama Avid W4S
Kumho Ecsta ASX
Falken Ziex ZE-912

Now, given that list, and hopefully you've gone through and thought about what priorities you have for your tires (cost, wet grip, steering response, ride quality, ultimate dry grip), you have to make the final choice. Tires marked in GREEN are going to be the value leaders and likely give up some performance, both wet and dry, compared to other tires in the class. Italicised tires will generally give the best dry performance in the given class.

For my stock wheels, I wanted all season tires on them so I have 215/50/17 Continental ExtremeContact DWS. There is a lot of side wall flex compared to my aftermarket wheel setup (Enkei RPF1s with 235/45/17 Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec) but they are pretty quiet.

Default Help

I have a stock 2004 SRT-4. I'm pretty sure the tire size is 205/50/17 (whatever the stock dimensions are). The tires on there now are ok and will probably last me through the winter but I will need to replace them come the spring. What tires do you recommend as basic use tires that will serve as tires on my srt-4 that I use for my daily driver? My buddy who uses his SRT-4 for his DD uses 205/50/17 Michelin Pilot Sport tires. But I drive in all 4 season weather. What do you recommend? I'm not trying to spend too much money, just whatever will do for basic daily driving. Thanks.

I'm coming off the Falkien Ziex ZE-912's 215/50's, and they hardly lasted 20,000 miles with my driving. I put on the new Continental ExtremeContact DWS all-seasoners today for the wet rating in the 205/50 footprint (cheaper than the 215 variant for once on TireRack). I'm still in the break-in period obviously, but these tires do stick like glue in all this wet weather we're having... Hope these make the new list!

^^ I came off the same tires too. My Falkens still had some tread left but they were slipping and sliding in the rain so I had to ditch them prematurely.

Let's see, the 205/50's cost $118.00/tire from TireRack, so after shipping the total came to $510.62. Merchant's charged me the TireRack mounting discount, which for them was $14.50/tire, so after tax and disposal fees, the mounting came to $61.48. I'm going to have the alignment done this week, which is on sale there for $69.99. Sooo all said and done, it ran me about $650.00.
