Default Stripping paint and polishing

I know everyone says to use aircraft stripper. I have used it 4 times and used a wire wheel each time. I cant get all of primer off. The black paint comes right off. There a easier way to strip them? I have 15 in snow flake wheels. The wire wheel is a little harsh on them. So I need to clean them up and polish them afterwards. I have no clue how to make them looks purdy again.

Heres my wheels

Heres what I want them to look like.

If you have access to a sandblaster, that will do the job.

I used stripper and a wire wheel on my k1's to get the black paint, primer and original silver finish off. I now have a friend with a sandblasting cabinet but at the time I didn't.

I took them from this:

How did you get it polished? My wheels look dull after getting the paint off.

Oh trust me, these didn't look like that after just taking the paint off. There's A LOT of time put into these and they still don't satisfy me. Expect to spend many many many hours hand sanding them. I prefer to water sand. Aluminum tends to gum the paper up quick so water helps a lot. Start with something around maybe 400-600 and work your way to 1500. Then use a powerball and some mothers.

I cheated..... I used a rotozip (have a dimmer switch to adjust speed) and a wire wheel. It ate it off fast and left it shiny BUT its not uniform. Would I just wet sand or what to get it looking good?

First off, the original finish on the snowflake wheels is a MACHINED face with silver windows. You can not duplicate this unless you take it to a professional wheel refinisher who first repaints the wheel silver and then puts the wheel on a CNC lathe. The computer programmed machine cuts the face to give it a polished low luster look.

You can try to do this yourself by painting the wheel and then use a palm sander to cut the face and then polish it with metal polish. It won't look exactly the same but at least you'd be saving a couple hundred dollars.

I took off most of the machined face off. I just want the shine to look even.

Thanks. I would like to smooth them out. Looks way better than it did. I guss 20,000 rpms and a fine wire wheel will clean up about anything. I wore a pair of glasses of course so I didnt get wire in my eye since the wheels arent supposed to go over 4500 rpms.

honestly, take them to someone with a sandblaster. You may have completely ruined those wheels, depending on how rough of a wire wheel you used. It will cost maybe $20 per wheel max for sandblast, and you'll be able to see all the wonderful imperfections you've just caused.

Fine course I bought at walmart. Im sure they will sand smooth. I heard sand blasting would cause pits in the metal.
