Default SRT-4 ACR Wheels!

OK. I just bought an white 05 ACR and the stock BBS wheels are scratched, dinged, and powtercoated black. I was wanting to get black 17x7 Motegi SX5 wheels and was wanting to know if they'd clear and what tire size to get so it won't throw off the speedo. The offset is 43 and i couldnt find the bore size. I rly need some help.

And I'm not feeling too generous this morning, so:
1) Read the damn STICKY!
2) SEARCH!

that might have been acceptable advice in the old days, but remember, acr is no longer valid search criteria (nor is bbs).

Ah, but the sticky still works, AND has all the info he's looking for.

You could still search for it, you'll just need to be a creative searcher.

Here:

'The ACR is cursed from fitting anything other than what comes right from the factory which is the 225/45-16. Want a wider tire? Not happening without sacrificing safety. You could always change out the struts to the base SRT-4 struts or coilovers which would allow you plenty of tire/wheel upgrades but you'll have to ask yourself an important question, why did you buy a ACR in the first place?'

might think about painting the rims you have. saw some painted black and it looked good.

Ok. The wheels had a 42 mm offset and they're 17x7 wheels. They should fit since the sticky said that any of the wheels that fit the srt-4 should fit but you have to be careful about the tire size. So i used the calculator and 225/40/17 should fit and be the same size of whats on it now. I decided on the Nitto Extreme NT-555 tires because apparantly the sidewalls are reinforced so it should be fine. Now what do yall think?

its not gonna look right with 17's. i saw an acr with 17's and it had the biggest wheel gap for some reason.

Not to mention that they're too wide for 6 inch wheels...

Here's another thread discussing this: tire question...

It'll have the same fender gap as it does now since the tires won't be any taller than the ones that are on it. That's where the calculator came into play on the sticky. And the ACR's have 7in wide wheels and the SX5's are 7in wide 2. It shouldnt make any difference accept that the wheel will be just a bit bigger and the tire will be a tiny bit thinner. I didn't go crazy and get those stupid ass rubberbands. My ACR does have a lot of gap to with stockers but i thot it was supposed to be 1 inch lower than a regular srt? Don't know whats up with that.

you can not use a calculator for calculating tire height. 225/45-16 tires are actually 23.7" tall. A 225/40-17 needs a 7.5" wide wheel, and in the case of the NT555 is 24.1" tall (which will fit). The Nitto NT555 is an OLD and CRAPPY tire and I don't think you'd be happy with their performance coming from a decent tire on the 16" wheels.

they have been out forever and you don't see anyone actually buying them for performance. There are by far better options out there for getting quality tires under an acr srt-4.

you might want to try a 215 40 17. That should fit.

do not run a tire with an 83 load rating. it's not strong enough for the front end of the SRT-4.
