Default rough rims

alright so i painted my rims bout year ago but after getting new tires put on i had to repaint them cuz they were all messed up. The problem is the second time around the rims ended up having a really rough feel. It feels like my rims are made out of sand paper. Its so bad i f i want to dry my rims, peices of the towel will just get stuck on. I sanded the rims down and put clear coat. thanks for any help and advise how i will redo these, going to do it when the weather gets nicer.

Sounds like they weren't properly cleaned before painting the second time, or the paint reacted to the first paint and caused it to rough up. if you waxed the wheels, or used tire shine, it will be in the paint and won't let the paint stick.

If you could take the tires off, best bet would be to get them sand blasted since you just have paint on the wheels. Then you could paint or pc them. If you're leaving the tires on, you could paint strip them down to the metal, then use a quality degreaser/wax remover to clean them, then sand w/ 320-400 grit to smooth them over a little, then clean again before painting.

lol. also, DO NOT use paint thinner/ reducer to clean parts before you paint them. The thinner/ reducer will react with the paint and cause it to bubble up or peal or any number of bad things. That's why you use the quality wax and grease remover.

go to walmart and buy an absorber, $4-8. or micro fiber towles. no lint and no paint swirls.
