18 x 7.5 +45 offset 4h/5h x 100/114.3

45mm offset is too high for that rim width, you'd need to run a ~5mm spacer.

No it's not. I've ran this size and offset before without any issues.

really? hmmmmmm. if my wheels are really 40mm offset like tirerack says, they are REALLY damn close to coilovers and that extra 1/4" width plus the offset change I thought would get too close, plus the tech sticky says "7.0-7.5 inch wide wheels generally fit with offsets of 35-40mm".

You sure they gave you 40 offset? Did you see the stamp on the back of the wheel?

The only other thing I can think of is that the mounting pad of your ASA is smaller than some other wheels which would result in higher offset sitting wheel.

You also missed an important piece in bold red from the Wheel Tech sticky...

On that same note this does not imply that a wheel with a 42 or 45mm offset will not fit over the calipers. It will all depend on the spoke design of that particular wheel. There are plenty of wheels with a 42mm or 45mm offset that fit but there are also just as many that do not.
