I have a quick question. I am going to be ordering steel rims and winter tires for this winter. What size to I need the rims to be 15x6 or 15x6.5? And, what are good size tires to run on them? Thanks in advance.

I ran Dunlop Winter Sport M3's all winter last year, 205/50R17 on stock wheels. Never got stuck, and could actually boost 5psi on snow and keep traction.

In addition to this, I ran them on a road course at PMI in Pueblo, and they held up. Lastly, I managed to break a 2.16 second 60' time at Bandimere for a 13.8 at 116mph on them as well... Not bad for a snow tire!!!

M3's are being replaced by 3D's (new style), just bought 2 new ones for my fronts, backs are fine. Total cost = $284 installed. (Local Discount Tire).

I was going to use stock rims for the winter but I'm going to be painting them for the summer. So, I wanted to get steelies. But, want to know 15x6 or 15x6.5.

Width doesn't matter. 15x6 to 15x8 wheels will fit with the proper offsets. Read HERE to learn about fitments.

If either the 15x6 or the 15x6.5 your looking at has the correct offset (35-40) you can use which ever size you want.

watch out for performance wheel and tire because the only reason i didn't order through them is they didn't have a steel wheels besides used ones. i went with 195 65 15 , skinny tires do better in the snow.

Im ok with used wheels, I paid only 30 bucks a wheel for them, they balanced and mounted them for me, and delivered them to me for 399.99 after everthing, mounted, balanced, delivered, rims and tires.

Now I have a set of rims for slicks next year

Please keep off topic questions/discussion outside of this thread. I'd like to keep this thread going on the topic at hand.

Thanks.

Cool Firestone studded snows

Get the Firestone winter force studded tires on 15" steelies. Kick ass. Just be careful in the dry. Studs will make tires actually silpery in dry. Also good idea to have non studded type snows in rear. I got some cheap viking 17 inch snows in rear. Car will go up virtually any hill and stop on a dime. Did for me. Sucks that I won't be driving my srt that much this winter. Don't want to nick up new front lip spoiler with cinders.

Think LSD has something to do with the awsome winter traction too. Both wheels spinning vs one.
