I will say, I hate everything about this combo except for the obvious, I no longer get stuck in snow...

They really hurt performance (except in the snow)...

1) the steelies/winter tires are heavier than the stockers
2) got the 195, 10mm skinnier than stock, harder to hookup
3) Less rubber is touching the road because of the winter tread, even harder to hookup
4) Looks like ass

Mine fit without any problem, I read somewhere one here that if you have brand new brake pads you might hit the caliper...

Got four 15"x6 steelies from Wal-Fart ($120USD) then got a decent tire place to put on four 195/65/15 Pirelli Winter Carvings ($400USD). Had them check the clearance and there were no problems at all.

So the rims fit and are cheap. The tires are great and cheap. Not enough snow here though. Most we had was 2 feet within 8 hours plus ice rain on top. Maybe I'll notice some driving problems after we get more than 3 feet of snow accumulation with an inch of ice. Right now I have places to go, people to see, things to do *yawn*.

Question Spacers or not?

Just got some Factory PT Steelies off a buddy’s 03. They are 50K tires that only have 15K on them. I only have about 2K miles on the car now; I mounted one driver’s side front! Dam that rim only 2mm away from rotor! I think with just a small turns I will be gouging my rotor! Do I need spacers for this? What size (Thick) spacers? The last thing I want to do is mess up the factory PT wheels, or my rotors!

From the rotor? or do you mean the caliper?
Either way, when you turn, your rotor/caliper turn as well, so the clearance will always be around 2mm. I have PT Steelies (not factory, 'Unique' brand) and if I stick a zip tie between the outside edge of the caliper and the inside edge of the rim, I don't have enough room to twist it (zip tie) even 45 degrees! But it's been just fine.

I ment the caliper, just seems so close, I have a 40 mile round trip to work tomarrow & I am worried that I will get up in the morning and have it rubbing the caliper! Just dunno what to do now probably wait till next weekend to put them back on!

Thanks a bunch!

Well, if it makes you feel better, my clearance is about 2mm (maybe less) and I've had no problems. Just spin the tire with the car jacked up and listen for contact (don't be quick to mistake a slight rubbing noise with contact - mine made some noise even with the wheel/tire off due to the rotors rubbing the brake pads).

Default 2 or 4?

When getting winter wheels and tires do you need to get just the fronts, or do you need the rears to be snow tires too?

To be safe you need all 4... with normal all-season tires you can do just the fronts, but with how low traction the KDWs are in the snow, getting just fronts will make the car much more prone to oversteer, as the fronts will grip around the turn, but the rears won't be able to keep up. It's your safety, I say spend the extra bucks and get all 4.

Yeah I figured, but just wondered if there was anyone running around with just the fronts and not having any problems with it..

instead of wasting precious money on steelies, i found some rims on discount's web site for $90/each, which is $20 more a piece for real rims. they are the rage breaker wheels and i have gotten lots of compliments on them. when i tell people how much i spent on them, they about sh*t a brick, cause they can't believe i got them so cheap. oh yeah and they even ship them for free. i threw on some hankook ice bears for about $100/tire and i am fairly pleased, you are not going to be invincible on ice with any tire, so these are fine, not a lot of road noise for studdless snow tires and work well on highways.

peace out napoleon

So you post almost $800 for winters?

I set up a discounted deal with discount tire direct...$444-$456 shipped for 4 15x6 steelies mounted and balanced with two snow tire choices...

IN STOCK...New 15" rims and winter tires shipped for $444-$456

And what would be the most narrow winter tires you could put on the stock 17 inch rims? (as you guys probably know, narrow = good in snow)

Default Early, but want to know

I know it very early to asking about winter tires, but I want to know how these steel wheel and snow tires will fit on an ACR. If they do not fit, give me suggestions on what will fit. The BBS wheels on the car will never see snow, that is why I want to get this information now.
