Ok I finally ordered some winter tires. The bastards cost me $488 mounted and balanced out the door
These are gonna fit ok, right?
195/65/15 General Altimax Arctics on steelies.
no problem on the tires, but the wheels fit really close to caliper. i'd say if you just did a brake job with new thick pads the calipers would maybe rub the wheel. that is if i'm correct in assuming that the caliper would indeed be placed closer to the wheel when placing the caliper down over the new thicker brake pads. my pads have 20k on them and the caliper probably only clears by 1 or 2 mm.

Pretty much any other size is to big, and will cause rubbing becuase of the strut tower perch on the ACR suspension.
WHEELS:
For wheels your gonna want a 5lugx100 bolt battern with around a 38MM offset. Any 15/16" wheel with that bolt pattern and offset will work. Tuner lugs from your local autoparts store are recommended over re-using stock lug nuts.
PT Cruiser steelies along with most if not all 1999.5-2004 Jetta/Golf wheels have the same pattern and WILL work for the SRT-4.
Here's a writeup on the Kelly Wintermark Magna Grip HTs. I posted it in another thread but evo wants it here. So here goes:
They are on Stratus 15" steel wheels in the front and are a 205/65R15.
They've been on the car for about a month now. Here is my reaction:
- It states they have a max of around 34psi, I found 30-32 to be too rough of a ride, so I dropped the pressure down to 28, and they ride much better. Not to mention they handle a bit better, they are very stiff tires.
- Noise: a bit noisy on the highway due to their intense tread, but nothing so obnoxious that it would deter someone from owning them. After all, we own loud cars to begin with. My car is quiet, it can be heard over the exhaust, my friend's SRT is much louder than mine and you cannot hear the tires at all.
- We've had minimal accumulation, just icy conditions and quite a bit of slush. So far in the slush, its pulled without an issue, and has had absolutely NO issues in the ice getting up the hill into my driveway.
- I decided to go without studs, and I'm glad I did, they aren't the best for cornering, but they do okay.
- Dry weather they are great, no issues so far with sand, spinning, etc in normal conditions.
- Wet weather, no hydroplaning, no sliding, but a bit of spin on a start-off is likely.
Overall, I like em! I'll give more results when we get more white stuff
