Default lets talk all season tires

Alright its time to put some all seasons on. I currently run a set of 225/50/16 ecsta spts which I am pleasantly surprised with. I never like to switch to all seasons because they tend to get sloppy in the twisties, but I can't afford to be stuck home this year when it snows. My car has and E2, all bolt ons, and meth so I would like the grippiest all season that also handles decently (yes i read the tire recommendation sticky). I'm trying to spend under $75 a tire (yes i know thats cheap). I have already owned the toyo proxes 4, and while very pleased I would like to try something else.

tires I am considering in no particular order

Hankook ventus v4 es h105 $71
Hankook k106 $62
Ecsta asx $72
Falken ze-912 $75
Sumitomo htr+ $67
Maxxis ma-v1 $73

thanks in advance

I have owned a set of Falken ZE 512's and ZE 912's and now I'm on my second set of ZE 512's. I couldn't ask for anything more out a of a ASHP tire. The do extremely well in Chicago blizzards. Enough that I don't even bother wasting my money on snow tires. They wear fantastic and are priced affordably.

Performance wise, I couldn't tell ya because I don't drag race, road race or canyon carve so your SOL on that, lol. However I believe your previous Toyo Proxes 4's are the better peforming tire in regards to grip when compared to your current list above.

The Kumho Ecsta ASX

It has more siping to the tread elements than some of the other tires that you listed. These sipes will provide better wet/dry traction under most conditions.

Keep in mind that as the temperatures get colder, the tread compound will start to get harder, and they won't be as sticky as they would be if the temperatures were above 45 degrees or higher.

Another vote for the Goodyear Eagle GT... can't tell you how they perform in snow but they've been GREAT on my daily beater Skittle's 70+ mile daily commute. I drive rather aggresively & these tires have outperformed the last two sets of tires I've had on the car (Falken FK-452 & Falken Zeix 512) by a HUGE margin!

thanks for all of the replies. unfortunately my clutch went out on me the other night, so tires are going to have to wait a few weeks. ill look into the eagle gt's but i imagine they are the most expensive of the bunch. if i do go with the asx's ill be buying them from discount tire, your shipped price is around $40 cheaper than i have seen elsewhere .

Why not get a set of winter wheels/tires so you can get some traction in the summer time? A set of winter tires will last you for years if you swap them out when it warms back up.

i think that is what is so cool about the eagles....they are a all season tire but they are sticky too....like i said i have 235s...and they look sick need to send the wheels out to be powdercoated so until then im on stock rims and sumitomo tires....which have also suprised me.....the falkens were JUNK bald in record time

How good are those eagle gt's in the winter (for an all season tire of course).

Either that or what would you guys reccomend for a good all season tire right in time for a winter in michigan? thanks

I have not had mine in the snow yet but chose them based on about 10 local subby and evo owners. I just moved to Iowa and they dont fuck around with their winters here.

+1 for Kumho ASX. I've had them in temps down to -30, and in deep snow. Ran them in 3 Canadian winters. Got 25-30k out of them, and very good summer performance (for an all-season tire). The SRT I have now came with Falken 912s... they blow.

Here's some pics of the kind of snow I drove through with the ASXs...
