Default help choosing tire and size for 16's

I need some help choosing my next tires for my 16" rpf1. I do some auto crossing and like to take corners hard. My car is pretty good on suspension (c/o, sways, bushings) and i would like some advice on which tires to get. I know with 16's my choices are limited and is why I'm asking for help. Currently I'm on 225/45 bfg kdw. They are alright but i want to see if there's anything better.

I've had 225/50's on before and i absolutely hate it. the tire is too tall for my liking. I was looking at the 215/45's, since they have more tires that size and the rt-615's are available but i don't know if the downgrade in tire size would just cancel out with the better tire, and i don't even know if that tire size is safe. So basically i want a good dry grip tire that I can autocross on and drive safely on the streets with, also, I don't really care too much for treadwear. I've searched a lot on this but I just don't want to spend money and then end up not liking the tire. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

edit: the wheel's are 16x7

Personally, I'd keep the 225/50/16.
Everyone makes a tire in that size (TireRack shows 37 vs. 6 including R-comps). Pricing is generally better as well.

thanks, but my car is really low and the 225/50 rubs on those hard corners. i also looked at the 205/50's but i dont know if that's safe but that's probably the widest selection in tires for a 16.

I'm running the Hankook ventus RS2's(225/45/16) but can't seem to find them on tire rack/discount tire. Great combination of wear and grip, i've got over 12,000 miles on my set that includes multiple auto crosses and a few trips to the drag strip.

I like them, but will probably be going with something even stickier after they are done next summer. check out tire rack and see if you like the Advan A048's.

yeah i remember the rs2's being available in that size but i think they are discontinued now that the rs3's are out. the advan's are too much of a track tire for me. i drive the car on the streets too so i dont want a full blown track tire either. azenis would be perfect but they make them in 225/45.. thanks for the help though.

raise the car back up some. There is no way it's good to be that low if a 225/50-16 is rubbing (unless your wheel offset is screwed up bad). Going with a skinny tire is useless and is going to hurt you in more than just outright cornering grip. A 215/45-16 is shorter than what the ACR used, and the load capacity is too low to safely use. Just putting undue stress on the sidewall. keep in mind you need an 89 or higher load index for the SRT-4.

A 225/50r16 size will give you more choices to pick from. Here are some to think about
Goodyear Eagle GT
Falken RT-615
BF Goodrich g-Force Sport

You could go with a 215/50R16 but you'd loose a little width. The Dunlop DZ101 is available in this size. 215/50R16
