Default Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 or Falken Azenis RT-615

So heres it is, im going to be using the stock rims and mainly shooting for a 225/45-50/17 but i guess i`ll pass for 215's but im having a hard time deciding between the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 & the Falken Azenis RT-615. Im buying these strictly for traction but good handling wouldn`t be too bad either... let me know what u think!

::edit:: also if u can post recommended sizes that would be awesome.... thanks

I think the Goodyears are a better all around street tire and will last longer but for dry traction the 615s are prob a little better.

I have no experience with Eagle F1's but I have the RT-615's and I love them. They're good wet or dry and they are very sticky. It's a good all around tire for whatever your driving style is. They're pretty reasonably priced too.

I have 225/45/17 Eagle F1 GS-D3 on the stock rim and they stick WAY out. It looks like the tire is gonna buckle on semi hard cornering. Thats because the stock rim is only 6 inches wide and 225/45/17 are designed for a 7 wide rim, MINUMUM. If I had to do it over again it would not squeeze these wide tires on the stock rim.

widest tire you can fit is a 215/50/17 but there are no sticky tires on that size. Closest on is 205/50/17 (stock size) and there is ONE sticky tire available at that size, BFG KD (not kdw).

There are only 6 street tires at tirerack that are under the "extereme summer" category and the DFG KD is one of them. They are normally $250+ a tire but tirerack has them on sale for $159 becuase they are discontinued so grab them while you can.

for a stock rim the best size is either 205 50 17 or a 215 50 17

ya, thats what I've been trying to tell you, there is no sticky street tire that will fit the stock rim other than the BFG KD. There is only ONE sticky street tire and they are discountinued; but tirerack still has some on their warehouse so get them while you can cause once they run out, you can't get them anymore. Plus their letting them go for $160 as opposed to the $250+ that they retail.

I like the Toyo Proxes T1r. They are very quiet. The dry and wet grip are exeptional and unless you plan on autocrossing they will corner well.

don't get me wrong, the Eagle F1s are great, thats what I have right now. However, I wouldn't mind sacrifing a little wet traction for a little more dry traction cause dry is when I really give my car a workout.

With that said, the KD's are decent in the rain, not good, not bad, just decent.

225/45R17, I have them on an 8" wheel though so they fit properly. They're about $115 each from Discount Tire Direct with free shipping. If you want to run a 225 I would recommend getting at least a 7" wheel instead of trying to mount them on the stock wheels.
