General Exclaim UHP Z rated. I've had them on for about 3 weeks now. AA traction. A temperature. 360 treadware. Grip is unbelievable for the price. Inspires ALOT of confidence. I haven't even pushed them yet, but just messing around I showed .86 lateral G's with no squealing. No longer break loose in 2nd, which i did all the time with my previous 225's. Great traction off the line. I wouldn't recommend them in snow just by looking at the tread pattern, and haven't tried them in really heavy rain yet, but light rain isn't bad. This is a 245/45/zr17 on a 17x8 wheel. All in all, I paid 490 for 4 tires, valve stems, mount/balance and road hazard.

245/45-16 - Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212
245/50-16 - Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 - but this is a bit too tall for anyone not on coilovers.

The General is a decent tire, but it's soft sidewall and hard rubber means it falls short of other UHP tires when you directly compare the same size back to back. It is a bargain of a tire for someone looking for a decent tire that will last a while and going wider is always going to improve grip.

very true, i run the generals on my DD wheels, and for the price, i love em.

if you can afford a DD set, and a driving set, general isnt a bad place to start for cheaper DD tires.

I have had the falken azenis rt-615 in 16" and 17" and fell like they are the best over all performing tire that I have used under $150 each.

they are definitely in the top 4 for true street tires. but don't expect more than 12-15k miles out of a set.

225/50-16 is the best 16" size.

but the only tire up in the same performance level in a 245/45-16 is the Hakook I mentioned to you earlier. Comparing the Z212 and the RT-615, they 615 is definitely grippier. But given the two different sizes, you'd have to do some testing.

I get to about 20K before I get to the wear marks. But I do not drive real aggressivly on a daily basis. Kind of hard to haul ass everywhere with the wife and two kids throwing off the balance. Another thing, I always realign my car with each new set and rotate every oil change. But I work at a shop so that is no big deal...
