Default Getting new tires

I went up to the shop and they told me to get the 215/45/17 Potenza G009 with UNI-T. total price is $734.28 with like a hazard plan. I was just wondering if anyone has had any problems or opinions on these tires!

Thanks,
kevin

I haven't used that particular Bridgestone, but I have not been impressed with alot of the past Bridgestone all season performance tires. Main complain is the noise and lack of dry traction after the tires wear down to half tread.
I just replaced some Hankook K104's with the new Falken Ziex 912's and love them. The hankooks never would balance properly. The Falkens are smooth, quiet, and grip like crazy wet and dry. I have to say that I only have about a thousand miles on them so I don't know how these will perform in 20000 miles--- we'll see. Also, they are under $500 a set installed with a warranty from my local Tires Plus store.

Don't get them. I'm feeling lazy, so do a search. And, don't get 215/45's if it's on stock rims.

the only safe sizes for the 17x6 wheels are 205/50 and 215/50. a 215/45 has too short of a sidewall, and sometimes not enough load capacity, to be safely used on the wheels and the car. 215/45 requires a 7-8" wide wheel.

Those tires are very meh. They are listed as a "high performance all season" tire which means it isn't really high performance at all. They will last 30-50k miles if you drive on them like they are designed to (no autocrossing, no burnouts, etc) and will get you through just about any driving conditions you may face. Tirerack has them listed for $135 each, if you want to get them. Shipping would be about $45. Add about $80 for a 4 tire mount and balance and you are considerably less than what that tire store is trying to feed you. Be aware that you WILL have a drop off in performance and grip with these tires. They won't grip as well in a straight line or in the corners and if that's what you enjoy doing in the car (as opposed to using it as a normal daily driver and never/rarely using the car to it's ability) then you will be disappointed with these tires.

Tires

Look through that link and see what some recommendations are in the different sizes/categories.

ok thanks man.. yeah i dont drive the car like a lil puss but i dont beat on it every day. i'll take a lookt through there!

if you had to choose what tire would you recommend that i should pick up.. I need something that grips better then the stock wheels.. all i do with those is spin spin spin. Thats why i was looking to get something a lil wider.
