Default Diagnose Problem- 40mph+ wobble

So i was planning on going to the track with Nigel and everyone else this weekend and decided to put on my stock tires in the front so i wouldnt mess up my good tires.

I got my stock tires out, the 2 front ones, and proceeded to put them on my car. I double checked made sure they were on the right sides and went to take it for a spin. well it had this really bad wobble at 20+ mph and i was scared to go any faster.

So i go back and change out the tires with the ones that were originally on it. Well now it has a bad wobble above 40 mph. If i get up to about 50 mph the steering wheel is shaking back and forth like a tire is out of alignment. Also you can hear it in the wheel, like its not rolling properly.

What could i have screwed up in the process? why would it wobble on the original tires, i know i didnt change the alignment of them any?

doubletrippppppple check that the wheel sits flush with the hub and you are not unevenly sitting on the lug studs.

i tried the stock ones, originals, rotated the originals and same thing. originals sit flush perfect though.

but i did notice when i was putting the stock rims on that neither of them wanted to sit on there, i had to slowly go around and tighten around in a circle until it was tight... which was alot of times.

could that cause any hurt?

i have a re-alignment scheduled for tomorrow... is there anything besides the wheel itself i should check?

sounds like something isn't letting it sit flush, whether it's some corrosion, grit, debris, or whatever. You should be able to push the wheel all the way against the hub and have it rotate just a tad around the lug studs, then as you tighten them up you center the wheel up and get things snugged down.

that is your hub centering ring for aftermarket wheels only. Remove that before installing the stock wheels.

In fact, throw them away now. They are probably deformed or cracked from torquing the wheels on a few times.

If you needed new ones, call up Discount Tire Direct and get a set of aluminum ones for $15 shipped.

ok so i took the front wheels off and bam! i found a crushed wheel spacer on each side. i pulled the wheels off and each rim had a ring still stuck in the back of it.

i called discount and asked wtf was up and they said they installed it with 2 rings on each side for clearence issues. im only one one right now and i watched it roll and drove it around a bit and im not having any issues with just one.

i got pics of what i found

no problem. If you still have any stuck plastic get a dull chisel and wire brush and clean the shit off to give the best smooth surface for the wheel.
