Default bad wheel shake at 80. (yes i took lil rings off front calipers)

i recently put 17x7 wheels with 42 mm offset on i bought from a forum member. and there is increased vibration and at 80 mph it shakes real bad. i read the sticky and took the lil rings off of the front rotors before i put the new wheels on. anyone know what it could be? can i get rid of it?

Get a set of hubcentric rings, and then get the wheels/tire rebalanced

Do you like to slide around and pretend your a drift king? In other words do you lock the ebrake and slide your rear end? If so you just made flat spots on your tires and have caused them to be out-of-round. The only way I know of to "fix" is to mount the rears in front and make them "round" again.... How is for you to figure out. lol

if you do alot of 100 mph bursts and then stop hard you heated up the rotor and warped them. this will cause a shake. get new rotor or have the the ones you got get recut at pepboys

I have the exact same situation. I bought brand new 17X7's and took them to the shop to have the stock tires mounted and balanced, because they only had 2,000 miles on them. Now when I hit around 80 my steering wheel shakes also. I drive on the autobahn everday to get to work so I get to those speeds everday.

I talked to the mechanic at the shop and he said they had to pull off those little rings or the wheels wouldnt fit. They also put the hubcentric rings on and wheel weights since they balanced the wheels.

It is weird because everthing is smooth until about 80.

this happened to me. It's important where they place the weights. Also try putting in a little more air preasure to the tires. this helped my car when I had 18's on.
