Default Avon, Kumho, or Sumitomo?

Looking to put an Ultra High Performance All Season tire on and was wondering if anyone has run any of these? Avon Tech M550 A/S, Kumho Exsta ASX, or Sumitomo HTR+? Probably going to go with 215/50/17 as the tire specs for diameter are closer to the stock BFG's than the 205s. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We have Kumho Exta's on my dad's mini cooper S and they are awesome tires. Grip good and great tread life. Dont know about the others.

I have the ASXs now. Not bad. Good dry grip. Not to be pushed in the wet, though.

I’m totally sold on the Sumis. Better than the originals: grip, wear, noise, and price.

Do a search on the Sumitomo’s HTR Z II in this site and google them and you’ll find mostly good reviews.

One complaint is poor traction when wet. Well, most wide tires have this problem, and high performance tires suck when cold.

Another complaint is that they are heavier. I never thought about this when I bought them, but if you compare shipping charges with OEMs, the charges for the Sumis is a little lower, and hence, a little lighter.

$72 at tire rack.

Well he should prpbably look at http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...y.jsp?type=UHP. I was in the same boat as you. I went with the Sumitomo HTR ZIIs. They're fairly cheap (special going on right now), and rated well.

Avon are rated the best but they're much more expensive.

Thanks for all the info. Yes I have read all the survey results on Tire Rack and the Avons definitely have the best responses. The Sumisotos have several complaints about center rib wear which concerns me. Don't mind paying a little more for the Avons if they are better.

i know these say they are not all season tires but damn the work good in the rain. 615 azenis are the sh_t, it was dumping rain about 2 weeks ago and i couldnt even tell it was raining. i was so suprised on how the tires rain in the rain and i even called my dad to worn him not to try anything while he was driving but he said they were fine. i took it out and i was holy shit they grip as good as the stockers.
