BTW, I've logged quite a few laps on all the layouts I mentioned above so if you ever get a chance to run there drop me a line and I'll help out if I can.

Oakhill Racetrack, just outside of Henderson has cart and motorcycle events. I've raced on it a few years ago (late 90s') with the CMRA (Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association). I think the track could be rented fairly cheaply too.
Grandsort corvette has a private track in Hitchcock Texas, they have rented it out in the past to the bimmer club of houston. I dont know if that counts or not, but they use it for R and D . Looks like a halfway decent road course.
And we now have the rally de paris in paris texas, if you wanna buy some gravel tires, and get dirty. I think the paris race is an SCCA event. We really could use more road tracks, seems more of a test of driving skill than straight line acceleration.
oh yeah.. hallsville dragstrip is closed down! the owner (chuck) is behind on a few bills and loans and such so he shut it down.. hopefully it is only temporary though, bc i lived at that place when i had my camaro!
oh and mineral wells does have something going on.. dont know if it is a road course they have or what but a friend of mine goes out there fairly regularly to a drift competition the have somewhere in mineral wells might be worth checking out! later

The drift events as well as all autocross events held in Mineral Wells are held at the airport. The place where they actually are is not on the tarmac, but on an old helicopter storage/training pad. A huge 1/2 mile by 1/4 mile flat and wide open concrete pad.

I guess I don't understand your point. I'm simply saying that in realation to say california, texas doesn't have that many decent roadcourses.
Have patience guys! I saw plans and permit requests for a road course out in Mineral Wells(west of Fort Worth). There's also supposed to be another road course track being built in far North Dallas.
But as it is right now, we've got Texas Motor Speedway, Texas World Speedway, and Motor Sport Ranch. And if you don't mind driving a little to get to other roadcourses, you can go to Hallett in Oklahoma(my "home" track) or No Problem Raceway in Louisiana(OWNED).
NPR is a decent track, I used to live near there. It's an 8 hr drive from Dallas, 4 hrs from Houston though. There's ALWAYS events there though.
