I went out to Denton Dragway(1/8th mile) on Friday night. The best time I could manage was several 8.9 second runs on the factory tires. But, my best mph was 84.9 mph!! I was short shifting 1st(shifting at 3500-4000 rpms) and short shifting 2nd(5000 rpm) in order to try to have some traction.
This post is kinda pointless really. I'm just thinking outloud. What should I get next? Adjustable struts when they come avaiable or a set of slicks.

I thought you where a roadracer not a dragracer ? I'm kind of at the same point you are I don't know which direction to take the car. I would say struts because they'll help on a roadcourse and at the drag strip.

I am mostly a road racer. I've already got a set 16" wheel and tires for the twisties. But that's what I'm thinking too. And, when I do drive the car on the streets, new struts will make the ride better. The factory struts are finally dying after 15,000 miles of Eibach torture!
that track on friday nights suck.. jcert and i went up there friday before last and i had the exact time of 8.9 and couldn't break it. need slicks and exhaust.

Or screw struts and just go with a coilover kit???
I thought about coilovers, but anytime I go to the track, I've already got a crap load of stuff I have to do just to get the car ready. The last thing I want to have to do is adjust the ride height, measure to see if the car is sitting level, then re-adjust it again.

Listen dumb-dumb, just set the coilovers to one good all-around level for the street, strip, and track.
You already know the answer to your question about the drags. You need real slicks. Depending on your current 60 ft it could take your 8.9 to an 8.3 or so. Dont forget about filled mounts.

Alright now Mr. Smarty Pants! Yes, I do need real slicks for drag racing, but which one is more important now? Slicks or struts?
I've already ran an 8.3 in the 1/8th. My previous best MPH was an 83.7 mph. Now I pull off an 84.9 mph so the car has more power now(maybe it's the intercooler??? : ). I've already got a filled tranny mount here just waiting to go in.
What MPH are you running in the 1/8th mile out of curiosity?
Well considering roadracing is your primary concern the coilovers will benefit YOU the most. You ran that 8.3 on someone elses slicks right? So long as you can always borrow them why buy a set but if thats not the case then you need your own.
HELL what am i saying? We got a group buy on coilovers at a hell of a deal. Forget the slicks
Remember we gotta put a hurtin on Brian at the next roadcourse it will be funny

Those slicks were 22" ones though and I was having traction problems with them as the day progressed.
Yeah, it is a good price on the coiovers, but I dunno if I'll be able to gather the money up in time. I really want to get some bills payed off before I do any more money intensive jobs on my SRT-4.
Ohh, I'm not concerned about Brian! I'll put the hurt on him on a road course track with stock suspension!! :
