What a crazy night.
We were heading out to the International motorcycle show this afternoon, and
as we are heading south on 288 at the 59 interchange, we see this poor guy
on the side of the road, with the back of his car completely destroyed. He is
there all alone, not another car in sight with damage. First thing we think is hit
and run. Damn, sucks for that guy.
We weren't expecting to come rolling up on a truck with a blowout, riding the
shoulder and hitting the guardrail and every curb in sight. I pass him and exit at
the next off ramp. We figure he will exit and park the truck. We have a good
feeling that this might be the guy who hit the fella in the Maxima, so I park on
a side street and wait so we can get a plate and a description and take it back
to the guy on the side of the road.
This guy is hammered. He hits 3 more curbs, then pulls into the exxon station
and can't seem to figure out how to get around the gas pumps. He almost hits
them 5 times.
Now that we have a plate and a description, we take it back over to the guy
who has been rear-ended on the freeway. Sure enough, it was a black truck
that hit him and took off. I hand him a piece of paper with the plate and truck
description on it, and he is overjoyed. During this time, we had called the police
and reported what we believed was going on. The wrecker driver tell Mr. Maxima
that the police have him at the Exxon up the road. I hop back in the truck to
go and have a chat with the police. It all ended well. The Maxima the truck
hit was destroyed. I can't believe he did that much damage.
Of course, you all know me... I had to get some photos. Here they are.
