i think you are holding yoru breath on S2. They keep saying it will come out on day, but time passes and yet, no kit. I gave up and went S1 and will finish putting my wga on tommorrow.
As far as exhausts, I cant say which is the best. We got the Mopar catback. The Cruiser forums are kinda slow here, but check out ptenthusiasts.com and ptcruiserlinks.com for a bigger following.
We've been waiting for stage 2 for over a year. Isn't going to happen. Go ahead and get stage 1. There are mods you can do to enhance stage 1 that will surpass stage 2 numbers. I neither want nor need stage 2 anymore.
is stage 1 worth the price or should I wait for stage 2? also what cat back is the best for a single outlet?
Thanks
I have a 2 1/2" Heartthrob catback single flo through exhaust and I really like it. It's just over $200. Really nice sound, not too loud, but you can hear it and not ricey at all. Borla makes a good one, but it is like $450-$500. I've heard Trubenz makes a nice one, cost about same as Borla.
ONe thing about ptcruiserlinks, they refuse to believe you can reflash used PCMS, which you can, so you can sell your Stage 1 if they ever do release 2.

Actually, because of you folks on this forum, we (PTCL) now know that the stage 1 pcm can be reflashed with a new vin and mileage. Some of us like to visit here and see what you folks are up to. It's a great place to learn.
Bad news guys, DC just drop the Stage 2 for PT Turbo's from the 2005 Mopar catalog, and are only going to make stage 1 from now on. But it OK, screw them! We have learned much from our SRT-4 brothers. Enough to easily surpass stage 2 levels. Damn, I feel like big DC srewed me again. If it wasn't that I love my GT so much and love the SRT-4's, I'd never buy another DC made car again!
That stinks....I was really hoping to get stage II on my car. I do not have enough confidence in aftermarket parts because of the computer problems associated with them....

Glad to hear it, Green Su, what's your source? If it's the web page, don't trust that, that damn ting is maintained by blind monkeys With no fingers
Not that I'm doubting it, with all the "If it aint CARB/emmisions certed, I refuse to buy it!!!!!" going on in the cruiser community, Mopar can't really be blamed. I don't know the % of Autostick to stick cars, but that might have been a factor also.
There would have been a lot to do to adapt the Toys kit for an Autostick car, I"m sure, given that apparently some part of the Autostick control portion of the PCM is used for Toys systems.
As far as non-Toys, maybe they didn't feel that enough Cruiser folks would want bare bones with no Toys. Don't know.
I love that beautiful white SRT-4 of yours glhs837! I got the info from tthrift (Tommy) at 2 other PT forums. He's a parts manager at a Chrysler dealership and always gets us the best prices. This is an excert from Michael Triffon's article on another forum:
"PowerPaq™ system:
1. PowerPaq™ $540.00
2. MBC $60.00
3. A decent AFR gauge with wideband sensor $300.00
4. Cooling Mist water injection system $240.00
Total cost: $1140.00
Well, other than a true the octane timing switch, we beat the performance of the Stage II without even breaking a sweat. We also have better control and even if we add in the mandatory cost of the Stage I at $325.00 and in all fairness deduct the cost of the wideband AFR that is not included in the Mopar Stage II, we come to a grand total of $1165.00! That’s a savings of $185.00! Not bad for a superior system that makes more power.
I realize that there is a subset of modders out there who are more comfortable with a closed system that you bolt on and don’t need to tune. I would like to point out that Psi-Fi Motor sports can send you such a kit and you will never have to touch a laptop to program the PowerPaq™. The only extra work is soldering in the PowerPaq™ and re-plumbing the vacuum lines.
I could go on and on about the PowerPaq™ but that is the subject of another review. The point is that not only do we have Stage II performance but we have more control and a nice path to Stage III, which is a bigger turbo. And we still saved $185.00! "
Mike-in-Orange has declared this to be "Stage IIa", "a" standing for aftermarket. We have even commented about get Stage IIa badges made.
Take that DC!!!! PT turbo owners will not quietly accept you treating us like red headed stepchildren, we are going to prove you wrong about their previous excuse about not enough interest in a PT stage 2. Guess they really haven't been checking the PT forums!

I think there were two major factors:
1. A huge majority of Cruisers owners run the auto-stick...I bet the percentage is close to 80% or more maybe even 90%. There have been a few failures reported even at Stage 1 power levels. Tommy Thrift has just come out with an auto-tranny upgrade but your talking $2,500 and the upgrade is to new yet to be proven.
Our 5-spds. are a little weaker than the SRT4 manual. An old post from 3BarBoost (A Chrysler engineer...now gagged by Chrysler) stated our first and fifth gear are 10% weaker than the SRT4 gearbox. Now I may never use 5th gear at the dragstrip but dumping the clutch at 4,500 RPM with slicks in first gear on a car that weighs 400-500 lbs more than the SRT4 will surely put our 5-spds close to the breaking point! At this point there are no aftermarket Hi-Pro clutches available (our clutch is different than the SRT4) and there are only a handful at best currently running-up graded axles.
2. The vast majority of Cruiser owners are NOT into HP upgrades especially when it comes to voiding the warranty. Way more owners are into Bling-Bling or fretting about gas mileage. If I were to hazard a guess I'd estimate only 5% of all Cruiser owners would be interested in Stage 1 and even less with Stage 2. As an example I belong to a popular Cruiser club in Oregon with a membership of over two hundred cars. Out of the 200 only 3 of us have Stage 1. Now compare that to the SRT4 crowd and you'll see why Mopar dropped S2 for the PT Cruiser.
