Chrysler has been gradually fleshing out its PT Cruiser family, with the introduction in the past year of a 'woody' version and a high-performance turbocharged model.
The next addition to the range will be a convertible, first seen in concept form at the 2001 New York Auto Show and confirmed for production at the 2002 Geneva auto show.
Chrysler has said the PT Cruiser convertible will go on sale in spring 2004, probably as an '05 model. Like the Geneva concept, the production version is a two-door soft top with accommodations for four adults. It features a folding canvas top and a 'basket handle' rollbar. The rear seats also can be folded to create a two-seater with a huge cargo area.
Chrysler reportedly will offer both the normally aspirated and turbo four-cylinder engines, mated to an Auto Stick transmission.
