Question PT tranny

From experience on other PT forums, I have heard the 2001 PT's 5-speed can handle little more than 300 crank hp. Does anyone happen to know how to beef it up to handle more or if another tranny, such as an SRT4 tranny, can fit?

Even a stock Neon Gen1 trans will take more than 300WHP on a regular basis. Torque rating for those is less than the PT trans. Both torque #s are significantly under-rated.

If you read up on Hahn's Turbo for the first Gen Neon you will find that the stock transmission is fine until his 'stage 3' or 4 kit where it recomends you beef up the clutch (but no other transmission parts) so im sure the ptcruiser can withstand more then 300 hp.

The PT 5 speed is not the same 5 speed as in the SRT-4. Correct?

I'm waiting to see the first custom Autostick PT auto tranny installed in an SRT-4!

Correct. Not the same 5-speed. Mine's also an early build from the first year model so not the tougher tranny in the GTs now.
