Detroit News: PT Cruiser gets facelift for 2006 model year
Chrysler doesn't plan to completely redesign its retro-styled PT Cruiser until model year 2009. So it needs to buy a little more time for the current edition, which gets a modest face-lift this fall, at the start of the 2006 model year.
The '06 PT Cruiser gets a fresher face, with a new grille, headlamps, hood and bumper. The rear-end styling also gets cleaned up a little, with a new bumper and taillamps.
The next-generation PT Cruiser, which isn't due in showrooms until fall 2008, will be extensively redesigned from the ground up.
It reportedly will share underbody components with the next-generation Mitsubishi Lancer. -- Paul Lienert
Unfortunately, Stage 2 has been cancelled for the PT turbo's. Plus with my current mods, I've surpassed Stage 2 levels anyway; only thing that prevents me from going further is the fear that I may chew up the Autostick tranny. I know I can't compete with you guys, but at least the Civic and RX-8 I was playing with on the highway last week will think about it twice next time they try to play with a PTGT!
By the way, your RX-7 looks primo! Too bad Mazda took a step backwards in power with the RX-8.

lol, Sounds pretty sweet... what mods you have done to it?

Thanks. Yeah it's pretty darn clean. 30,000 miles, stored every winter, never sees rain. Such a sweet car. If we ever finish the Mustang I'm definitey buying another RX-7 to supe up. Somewhere along the lines of 450+ whp. That's my dream car.
The RX-8 is sweet, but too bad on the power. Aftermarket turbos will be sweet, but no thank you for daily driver.
Definately agree with you on the RX-8's power! I'd take your RX-7 anyday of the week to a new RX-8.
My current mods are:
Stage 1
Spark plugs gapped to .040
Crane Firewires
BTG air intake
AMX1397's Turbo Up Charge Pipe with blue couplings and T-bolt clamps
Boomba Racing BOV with 19lbs spring
Hallman Pro PX manual boost controller set at 16lbs
Mopar A pillar dual gauge pod
Autometer sport-comp vac/boost and voltmeter gauges
i noticed the headlights, but not much else. Yeah, too bad about that S2 thing. DCX hosed it IMO and didnt really spread the word about upgrading the Cruisers.....
Im pretty happy with the power our Cruiser has. Those Mustang GT guys have seen the tailights a few times....
Have you ever timed you GT at the track or put it on a dyno? Sounds like it might not be too bad with those mods. You gotta hook up the dual exhaust on it and get rid of that muffler! That would sound and look badass!
Tell me about it! I plan to dyno it this spring or summer at a place some of your fellow SRT-4 brothers have recommended on these forums. And I plan to take it to Atco or Raceway Park this spring also with a couple of other PTGT guys. I also agree with you on the dual exhaust subject. I just love the dual resonated exhaust on the SRT-4's, and will probably do something similar plus a 3" DP when I have a chance.
