Default Conversion possible?

Just bought one of the 'released this summer' Cool Vanilla PT Cruiser Turbos. This has a de-tunned version of the 2.4L turbo. @ 180hp.

Question:

Can this version be brought up to the full, pre-st-1. 220hp's.

Dodge isn't real clear. They have ST-1, but this engine seems to have a different intake manifold.

Anybody have more information ?

yes it can be, you will have to change parts out with the SRT 4 motor, like exhaut manifold and turbo because we have a different turbo set up. but it is very possiable. but my suggestion is to just leave it and go with the stage 2 upgrade. that will give you all the power you need, and will be a lot cheaper

You're right. If it's that extensive I'll wait. Didn't think I'd get the 'bug' to mod this one.

Would you happen to know if the exsisting stage 1 will work, or will they come out with a third variety?

Thnx

Yeah, I've seen it. You answered the question though. They have stage 1's for the SRT-4, the PT GT and not yet for the PT turbo.

I doubt if they do one. From what I've read, they weren't selling enough GT's because of price so they created this middle model.

A 2004 Stage 1 will work for the PT Turbo. A guy over on PT Cruiser Links had a 2003 S1 installed on his son's 180 hp Turbo and it brought it up to the power of a GT. The only problem was that there were some changes to the '04 PCM and the air cond would'nt work. He was told a '04 S1 has the changes and everything will work. He's just waiting for the '04 S1 to come out, which should be pretty soon.

Thanks, that's useful. Looks like a bit of a pain to take the upper manifold off. Guess that's what the gasket is for in the kit. Not bad, just a little harder that my SRT-4.
