Default Whats the safe wattage for an SRT.

What is the Safe wattage for the SRT. I wanted to get the 100/80 watt xenon bulbs http://store.yahoo.com/mobile-emotio...enlowbeam.html.
Would the SRT's wireing harness support this amount or not. I want a bulb that has a bluish tint. but not silverstars. I searched and searched on here and didnt find what i was looking for exactly. Thanks in advance.
Mike

Higher wattage gives a higher risk of damaging the lighting system. I am not saying this is what is going to happen just it has a much greater probability. The higher wattages increases the heat in the wiring harness which could damage it. There will also be increased heat at the base of the lamp, potentially damamging the housing and also more heat in the fixture damaging the reflector or plastic front.

The higher wattage is also not street legal. Federal rules say you can not have higher wattage for use on the street because the system is not designed for it, hence you are increasing light in oncoming traffics field of vision. It may benefit you as the driver but not everyone else around you that might feel blinded by the increased light.

I hope this helps you understand the issue with this.

Stick with stock wattage. I hate having someone with no respect for other drivers shining 100W bulbs in my eyes.

I have the 80/100 watt APC's and no problems. It has only been 6 weeks for me though. I picked up some 893's (37.5 watts) that were also "blue-ish" the other day for the fogs. However, I can't get my fat hand up there to change the pass. side without removing the WW bottle. I would love to know why the owners manual states the fogs are 9145's when they are really 890's.
Also (for the record)...I ran 80/100's in my Dakota R/T and 885 Fogs (50 watts) for 4 years with no problems. However, in my Omni GLHS I ran 80/100 Hellas and remember the moment (like it was yesterday) when the Headlight Switch MELTED in the "ON" position! Disconnecting the battery everytime I parked the car (for a day or two) was a pain!

The weak point in the Neons headlamp circuit is the multifunction switch on the steering column. I plan on upgrading the harness with some 12ga leads and 40A relays. Upgrading the circuit alone should kick out a few more lumens.

I hate to keep saying this but going to a higher wattage is bad for oncoming traffic. Wiring seems to hold up so that doesn't seem to be the point I can battle on. Using the higher wattage lights are not legal and are dangerous to others. Of course I am going to say use SYLVANIA but really I would rather have people choose a Philips or GE street legal bulb over the 100/ 80 watt blinders. There is just too much light hitting eye level oncoming traffic making for unsafe driving.
