So i've been wanting to do a retrofit for awhile now. My buddy works at a body shop and got an RS4 in with front end damage. It needed new headlights so he hooked me up with the old ones, the projectors, ballasts, and bulbs are all in perfect shape. They're probably the same as an A4 projector, but what do you guys think of these? Think they'll fit alright? Is it worth doing or am I better off selling them and going another route? thanks!
it looks like e55 projectors, i may be wrong but they look almost identical. if they are then they are a decent retro to do, easy, cheap, and good light output.
They arent e55's. Not sure what they are, but anything is better than stock lights. Hook them up and see how the output is and decide if you want them.
You should definitely scrap your idea and go another route. Get rid of those projectors by boxing them up and sending them to me. I'll be kind and even cover the shipping cost.
Not sure what the RS4/A4 uses but I'm sure the quality is there to use them in a retro for our cars. I'd change out the lenses if you can though.
hm, thought i responded saturday night but I guess not lol. damn busy schedule!
anyway, they are 3 in. and the light output seems pretty good. I hooked them up at work and they were plenty bright with a really nice cut-off. I noticed the high beam solenoid and flap goes on the bottom? The way the flap moves I just assumed it would be on top but after messing around with them it seems like its supposed to go on the bottom. thanks again guys!
e46 have a 3 prong plug for the solenoid, these have 2
That's true, I was trying to be simple with it. They're often refered to as RS6 's but besically they are an E46 with a few tweaks which have little bearing on the projectors output.
Can anyone give me some advice on hooking up the high beam solenoid? its a two prong. I'm still debating doing this myself. Can I just hook it up through my high beam and a ground or something? Or is there a better way to do this? I don't want to hook it up and find out it needed an extra relay or fuse and burn it out.
