Default 'VW' or 'Euro' style side turn signals

I've been thinking about adding a VW-style side turn signal to the side of my SRT, right there by the rear of the fender. From the side of our cars (or any Neon) you can't see any turn signal. The side marker lenses on the bumpers do not blink and IMHO is a serious safety hazard.
I was thinking a small (1.5" x .75" oval), tasteful (clear or smoked) amber LED turn signal wouldn't jump out at you and would add a great deal of safety to the side of the car. You wouldn't really notice it until the signal comes on. It should be easy enough...just tap the 'high' filament on the front turn signal. As a bonus, it will blink when the 4 way hazards are on.

Anyone know of any such signal and where I could get one? I looked that the VW ones and they require a big cut in the sheet metal. I'm thinking I'd like to get by with a 1/8" or smaller hole in the fender...ideally a self-adhesive lamp or something since accessing the back side of that fender may be a PITA..

Before people flame this isn't a visual mod this is a functional mod. I'd like it to look as 'stock' as possible..

What you are talking about is what is put on Neons that were EXPORTED to Europe years ago. We have our own DCx guy over here that get you the part number for the same lights that went on the export models so you can buy them and do it yourself.

Really? Export Neons have body turn signals?

Yea hook me up. Problem is, it's as tough as a female biker to get export parts here in the states. You need someone overseas to order the part and then ship it over (hint hint ).

You can convert your stock bumper parking light to be a flashing/parking light by buying a dual filament bulb and wiring it in relay off the headlight parking light plug. However, you want both bumper and headlight turn signals to flash at the same time when the parking or headlights are turned off. Once either the parking or headlights are on, they need to alternate between their flash cycles. Thats how oem cars with side markers generally operate.

I have my stock VW sidemarkers if you want them. Right now they are just taking up valuable closet space.

Yea I've thought about how to do it but it would require some sort of logic to make it work. I haven't sat down and figured out the diagram but it would be fairly simple to make the side marker blink in an 'OR' configuration. There was a doc floating around Neons.org on how to do this, but it was a different config since the car used had DRLs.

I've got one set of these sitting here you can have for $6.00 plus $4.00 UPS. They're for the BMW 3 Series and measure 5/8" x 3"

Hmm you got anything with a smaller profile? Like I mentioned above, I'd like it to be tiny and able to fit between the rear of the fender and the door...
