Default under car neon legality?

My friend is thinking about getting blue under car neons for his truck and was wanting to know if they are legal. I know it varies state to state and we live in Florida. I was under the impression that you can have them but the bulb cannot be visible. Can someone give an educated answer? I searched for a state law about neons but couldn't find anything. Thanks for the help.

i'm not sure about where you are at, but i know in mass you can't have red, blue or green/yellow. red and blue are used by the police and fire dept. also the green/yellow is used by the highway dept. all of the other colors are illegal, but it's just 1 more thing that the cops can hassle you/him about

They are illegal for use on public roadways, especially blue. The myth about the whole bulb or unit can't be seen is just that, a myth. If you have blue or red lighting anywhere on your car, chances are its going to get you a fix-it ticket or equipment violation. White or yellow is considered legal but this only aplies for auxilery lighting such as auxilery fog or driving lights, not neon. You would have a hard time trying to convince the judge a neon undercar kit is for auxilery lighting.

With that said its completely legal to be in a private parking lot with all the lights on in the world I believe. You just can't have them on once your on a public roadway.

In ND you can have Blue, but you cannot see any points of light and they cannot stobe. I got pulled over when I first installed my blue lights, and the cops just wanted to make sure they didn't strobe.

Lets see I have a green remote under neon kit and 7 color back up led bulbs all for show and sometime ride with my kit on the city cops dont care its the other smaller city cops that are crap. It just depends on the cop not the city or state. Yeah its illegal but only if you get caught . I usually just do it when Im parked.

its typically illegal to have 'any' color neon on outside the car once the vechicle is moving on a public road (as stated above). if you are parked somehwere, strobe/light away. you couldhave enough lights to be visible from space but as long as the car isnt moving you will be fine.

but now, most cops know what the neons are and look like, and generally will overlook them as a reason to pull you over. now, if you are driving like a dick and what not, the cop will flag you pretty quick and write you a ticket for whatever you were doing + the illegal neons. i hav eyet to see a cop make a point to pull someone over and ticket them for neons, but it just depends on the mood of the cop that sees them.

im thinking about them myself, so i know this already too, but i still want them sorta. and if you have them on and driving, you make yourself a huge target anyways..so its up to you.
