Default Troubleshooting Help. Turn signals and hazards OUT.

Well, here's the background.

About two months ago I put in the MPx projectors.
No problems.

About 3 weeks ago my car was backed into, so I had to send it to the shop, after hearing horror stories about voided warranties, I removed my projectors and replaced with stock.

STILL, no problems.

Finally got my car back, still no problems...

Today, I found two friends who wanted to help put the projectors back in.

So to make sure the projectors are still working I plug in the headlamp socket.

From this point on, my turn signals and hazards have not been working.

They keep blowing the 15A fuse in the hood after only one blink. I Haven't found any ground outs, and all my other lights still work (Headlights, parking lamps, tails, interior, etc)

I Cannot figure it out, and I don't just want to up my fuse.

Side note, I haven't taken the MFS off, but I don't smell any burnt smell, and the MPx's are my only lighting mod.

please help

Jake

so what do I check?
if you will forgive the noobish question.

when you were backed into was it the back or front of the car if it was the back and the tail lights were damaged i would take them out and make sure your wires are ok other than that i would disconnect the halos and the led lights and see if that may be the problem.

also check fuses first. if they are good put your ear by the steering wheel and try to hear if the relay is clicking

The fuse blew every time I hit the turn signal
but only the drivers side turn signal.

Turns out it was the multi function though.
Finally got frustrated and took it to the dealer.

Electrical problems are tough. I would trace your wiring so see if theres anything exposed. Check your grounds. Remove grounds, clean them, and reinstall. Check the harness on top of the steering column and see if its starting to melt. Also check the mfs.

I did all that, with no luck.

Turned out it was the MFS in combination with my depo tails.
The one place I never thought to look.

Thank You though.

where did you get this switch? my driver side turn signal doesn't work. all my fuses are fine, also the driver side brake light doesn't work. I have the depo led tails as well, and when i brake or put on the turn signal it jus looks like the lights on the tails are shorting out. I haven't checked this yet? can i buy a new one and where is it?

Well, as it turns out, it wasn't even the switch.

I lost my drivers side signals too

it was the depo tails themselves.
The circuit board inside the light shored out.
I took it apart and it was burned up.

My friend is a service tech at the dealership, says he has seen it a few times.
If you still have your stock tails, put the drivers side one in, see if that doesn't fix the problem.

If not, ten it is the switch, you can get the switch from the dealership.
Hope this help.

Let me know if it doesn't, I'll get you the answer.

no, luckly its not my tails. mine was doing with stock tails. the every time i hit the brake or the driver side turn signal with my stock light bulb the bulb just shorted out...didn't blow....just shorted out. I could take the bulb and put it on the pass. side and it would be fine. i swapped the light bulb housings and they are both fine, checked all my grounds, checked all my fuses, it's either the MFS, or the pig tail that connects to the bulb housing.

does this sound right?

Well, if I understand you correctly, the brake lights aren't working either.

Is your car and 03 or 04?
because if so, it could be a mashed taillight wiring harness.
Get up under your dash, and look behind your clutch pedal. There is a wiring harness against the firewall that is for the taillights. If it's smashed, there's your problem.
If not, then my guess would be the MFS. They run about 85 bucks from the dealership I go to.
