Default tip for anyone doing a radio light change

I recently changed my radio lights following wiggyx's how to. When I changed the lights I realized that the radio display was very dim as he mentioned in the how to. My solution is to not even use cellophane but instead taking a permanent sharpie and putting on a few coats of it. Just put it on even and let it dry for a minute and then do it again. Turned out great and doesnt cut down on the brightness but a tiny bit. I dont know if this is an option for the mileage display but Im sure it would work on that too.

I'll add it to my thread if you get some half decent pics up. I still need to go update that thread...

I used a red sharpie on my defroster light because I was to lazy to get the spray paint out again lol. It worked but not near as good as the painted bulbs on radio. I guess it might be ok for the display, not sure how well it will overpower the green though.

I vote most confusing sentence ever in the lighting section.

haha yea i was intending to put the pics on and then realized half way through my sentence that i didnt know how but here they are.. and i still havent got my lights to turn blue if anyone has done it please let me know because after 3 tries with stained glass spray paint and or sharpie they are still different colors and very dim. As you see in the phots they are dark blue. I actually took the front black part of the radio off but left it plugged in and through the circuit board you can clearly see all the lights are bright green, but when you look at them normally they are different colors, i have no idea it makes no sense to me

so i took my radio apart today again for prolly the 8th time and i tried to use regular model paint, i used dark blue and put on 3 coats and then let it dry and i have to say its pretty good, not incredibly bright blue but its blue eenough to do so if anyone is having problems like me if ur doing it in another color besides red then try this, it also saves u alot of time on prep work too.

you brushed it on?
in the pictures you posted it looks like when you used the glass paint you missed alot of spots... 1st pic bottom left bulb has hardly any paint at all.
2nd pic back bulb has no paint on the sides, like some others in the first pic.

I see 1 bulb that looks like it actually has good coverage.

at least you got it now and your happy. post some pics of it at night now, so we can see the sharpie on the display.

yea i brushed it on the pics you saw were after one of my first attempts and its hard to get full coverage on them bulbs with light coats i dont know why but it just wouldnt work for me i attempted to do regular coating and not worry bout the light coats too and that didnt work so i tried sharpie on top and that didnt work but yea ill post some pics of it at night i might actually get a lighter blue and maybe try it again because its not incredibly bright but it works for me
