Default Is there an easy way to brighten the halos on projector housing headlights??

Just bought the projector housing headlights. Is there any way I can increase the brightness on the halos without replacing the bulbs. Something like adding a capacitor to the wire? or no?

Nope. They suck (as far as output is concerned). This would really be you best option. The cheapest retros you can get.

I think he means brighten the halos.. Maybe wiggy means do what ND4SPD did with the other LED's. I'm about to order these headlights too..

Oh, my bad. LOL, I've never heard that question before. I just assumed you meant the projectors (which people ask about all the time). I'm not sure. Unfortunately, replacing the LED's is prolly the only way to get them brighter.

Yeah thats what I ment. My buddy has the CCF(I think that it??) and they are way brighter. you cant even see them when the lights are on.

Cold Cathode Fluorescent? Yeah, but that would require that you take apart the headlights to install for sure. They look great though.

Ok this is a little off topic but I don't want to start another thread about the MPx lights.. Has anyone had any problems with condensation? I might get some silicone or something and double seal them before putting them in.

There's a little box double side stickied on the back of the housing with wires coming out. You can cut the wires, remove the box & re-connect the wires. This will run the LED's at full power which is considerably brighter. Unfortunately they will die a certain death as most LED's don't like the heat produced. It also don't provide much wiggle room for power surges which can kill them also.

CCFL's can be installed or the LED Rings like I've done. Both are significantly more money then just some bulbs & require the headlights to be opened up. If there was a better or easier way I would offer it.

can I remove the box, like you said, and just place a resistor there instead? that way, its an increase in power, just not high enough to blow them out?

That's probably all the box is, a resistor.

Most likely. Either way, whether you pull the resistor completely or replace with a smaller one, you're gonna kill 'em off a lot quicker. Then to replace them I think you need to open the lamps up anyways Personally, I would maybe think about opening them up and adding a higher wattage set of LEDs. Those lamps bake apart really easily and it would cost a lot less than going the CCF route. Maybe John has a better (easier)solution?

You might be able to fit two superflux led's in place of the original two.

CCFL's fit nicely in place of the stock crappy halo's. That's the next best & easiest option IMHO. They are bright enough to see during the day & last a long time. They have a wide viewing angle so head on the upgraded LED's I use are brighter but from a 45 deg angle they are about the same.

The 3 Side Led's are Superflux style Led's in 194 sockets (easy & cheap to replace). The stock LED's for the Halo's are the issue as they use this wierd & dual 3mm led's soldered to a small board. If you want to upgrade them you're going to have to make something custom.
