I might change the pattern, after I put it together and looked at it in the daytime it's not as integrated with the styling of the car as I would like

Yeah, I know. That might throw some people off at night

I might redo the pattern so it's spread out a bit more, and on the outside edge follow the curve of the lens to meet the white section of the backup light .
