Default Sticky: How To: Yellow Fog Lights damages fogs

This mod destroys your fogs. If you are going to do this mod, think twice.

If you still insist on doing this, take the fog out of the fascia and mask off the plastic on the back side of the housing....just paint the clear and dont get any overspray on the backside of the housing.

This is because that the stain glass spray paint was not designed for plastic. It will make the plastic on the backside fof the housing brittle and it will crack and chip. I will post pics later.

I had to order a new fog housing because of this mod. Luckly there was a member you was selling a pair of them for cheap. The stealership wanted $65 per fog housing.

If you have done this mod, take your fog out of the fascia and check for damage if you choose to do so. But i recommend that you just leave it alone since unscrewing the screw which holds the fog housing in place might do some damage just by being loosened.

again, pics up later.

I did it to mine, but i painted them blue. It came out looking rediculous, so i dont turn them on. I need to find a way to put them stock without using harsh chemicals.

As you can tell from the pics, my fogs arent so yellow anymore. Use laquer thinner on the stained glass spray paint.

Rest assured, the damage was done prior to removing the paint

Hmm...I used the stained glass paint on my fogs and they are perfect, I love the yellow light. Just checked the back of the housing and no defects there. Maybe it was just a bad prep on your part

Your right, I didnt take the fog out of the fascia and tape off the non clear part of the fog, then paint it like i suggested in my first post .

Neither did I...I used the exact same method you used apparently. I taped around the edge of the lens, then taped off that all the way around till pretty much the entire side of the fascia was covered.

I didnt have any problems either till i removed 1 of the fogs to touch up a paint chip on my fascia. As I was unscrewing the screw, the part of the fog housing which has the screw running through it crumbled.

When I inspected the housing, every place where i had gotten overspray on the backside of the housing either was chipping or peeling....plastic becomming brittle.

The spray can states that the paint works on some plastics.
