What do you all believe is the Cheapest one could do such a project like this?
I don't mind not having the coolest looking ones or best projectors ... I'm more into the black shroud and reducing the reflective pieces in the housing. I'm thinking ebay is a must ......... I've still got research to do obviously(I have looked @ the how-to and through this whole thread...)
Mental note. Those are projectors, used for a "retrofit". They are not called a "retro", until they are placed into a headlight and completed, that of which they are just a component of a "retrofit" and not considered a "retro".

I don't think you can do it for less than about $300. You're gonna need a set of lamps (120 bucks on eBay), a set of projectors (100-200 depending on what you get), and some sealant, bulbs and other various materials. If you want HID's (which I'm sure you do) you can add another 200-250 on top of that. I just got my eBay headlights the other day, and thankfully I have a set of projectors that I got for free. Mine should be done in the next week or two, depnding upon how busy I end up being with work around the house.

do the a4 projectors come in bixenon? and if so will they fit with to stock reflective housing?
Yep and nope (sorta). I'm using bi-xenon A4 lamps right now. I had to defeat the bi-xenon portion as the solenoid will not fit behind the reflector. I'm sure there's a way to make them work, but it seems like it would take a lot of work, and to me, it's not worth it.
The non-bi-xenon A4 has a rather wide reflector, and, while I think you can make it fit, it seems like it'd be a tad tricky. The bi-xenon fits great, as long as you remove the solenoid that adjusts the position of the block-off plate (which is what I did). Older TT projectors are tiny. I bet they'd work great. I'm trying to get my hands on a set for my next retro-fit.
It also depends on how you mount the projector. I've been fitting mine directly to the OEM Neon reflector (with a big hole in the back obviously) so that I can retain the factory height adjustment. I've seen others remove the reflector and build their own adjustment system though, which would allow pretty much any size projector to fit in the Neon housing. What I don't like about that system is that you have to somehow find a way to "cover" the projector so that the final product looks clean.
are there any straight foward projectors that will work better without really doing alot of custom work to it? i like to keep the the stock reflector like you aswell, so i can deal with just single instead of bixenon projectors. what would be the best projector that you think will work best? i read a lot of the sticky buh just want to know whats the best as of now and what projectors keeps the stock reflector.
