Default Splice in 6ohm resistor

Well after getting my LED tails, I have decided to finish 'the look' and order the front turn signals and side markers in LEDs as well. I ordered 6ohm resistors to make them flash at a steady rate in the front since LEDs make them look like those "hyper flasher" things they sell and I hate so much.

The resistor splices in on the ground wire and the turn signal wire. My question is, which one is which - especially if there are 3 wires going to the bulb? Granted, I didnt take a look at them yet so I couldn't even tell you what the colors are ub thas anyone else done this yet? Thanks in advance!

I looked at both sides. the parking light wire is the same color on both the driver and passenger side. The turn signal wire is a different color on both the driver and passenger side. If you really would like the color, I could alway pop out my headlights tomorrow and let you know.

Thanks,
Steve

Great answer. Thank you much! As long as I know its the color that doesn't match up to the one on the other side, I'll know to use that wire. the ground is probably always black so I figured I coudl find that one.

Thanks again,
Greg

Ok so I'm stuck. I tried putting these in tonight and they would still blink crazy fast. There are three wires: Pink and green, Black and white, and Black. I followed the diagram and wired the resistor between the Black and Black and white wires but I could not get them to blink normally. My question is, which wire is the turn signal wire and which one is the ground?

I would take out both sides and see which wire is different in color. I wired mine to the turn signal wire and grounded it. I think pink and green are the parking lights, but I am not sure what the turn signal wires are. I can check tomorrow what color the driver and passenger wire are for the turn signal and post that up.

I checked both sides:

- There is a solid black wire on both sides
- There is a black wire with a white stripe on both sides
- There is a pink/green wire on the driver's side and something different on the drivers's side.

I need to connect the resistor between the turn signal wire and the ground wire. What two wires should I splice into? Also, do I need to have both sides spliced into at the same time for this to work?

Thanks,
Greg

Ok here are the wires.

Driver:
Black - Ground
Black/Yellow - Parking
Orange/Green - Turn

Passenger:

Black - Ground
Black/Yellow - Parking
Orange/Red - Turn

Tap on the orange/green + orange/red and ground the other end of the 6 ohm resistor. That is how mine are setup. And you don't need both sides hooked up to work, unless you are testing with the hazards.

Thanks,
Steve

Did you ground it to the ground wire or the chassis? I tried grounding it to the ground wire and it would not work.

EDIT: Just got home from work and gave it another try. Turns out my snap in connectors were just a little fussy. I got them working now and they look really good.

Steve, thank you so much for going out of your way to supply me with useful information to help get this done. I really appreciate it! Thank you much.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I am glad to hear you got it to work.

And you are welcome for all of the help.

Polarity matters on the LED bulbs. Try rotating them 180 degrees and see if it makes a difference.
