Default So is it the capsule or the ballast?

While driving tonight, I noticed my passenger-side headlamp is about 50% as bright as the driver's side and much bluer. I turn them off and back on but a warm-start didn't help. I plan to check them out later and see if a cold-start helps.
From that description, would it be the ballast or the capsule? This is an Xtec 5000K HID that is about..oh...two years old and about 40K on em.

Probably reaching the 2000hrs life the HID kits have... Time to get new components I believe.

More than likely its your capsule.

Swap the capsule from one side to the other. If the problem persists on the same side, its your ballast. If it goes to the other side, its your capsule.

Damn logical approach...why didn't I think of that

I'll do that. I think I'll be pulling them out and going back to SilverStars until I figure out where to get another capsule. Being a 'kit', it may be tough.

Pulled the ballasts and capsules tonight and swapped in my piss-yellow SilverStars

I forgot how clean the top cutoff is when you're using a 'legal' bulb heh.
