Lightbulb Silverstar vs. stock w/pics

For anyone who is thinking about changing their headlight bulbs, I thought this might be helpful. I recently opted to switch my stcok bulbs out for the Sylvania Silverstars. The new bulbs are very much whiter and brighter. For about $40, it's a good deal for poor folks like me. Pictures of the comparison are hosted at the following URLs:

http://tinypic.com/view.html?pic=ygoj6 -bulbs side by side, stock left, silverstar right

http://tinypic.com/view.html?pic=ygoc8 -passenger stock, driver silverstar on car

http://tinypic.com/view.html?pic=ygokp -silverstar left, stock right

http://tinypic.com/view.html?pic=ygoli -same as above from inside car

http://tinypic.com/view.html?pic=ygoox -stock bulb on car

http://tinypic.com/view.html?pic=ygopd -silverstar on car

http://tinypic.com/view.html?pic=ygoqx -stock light

http://tinypic.com/view.html?pic=ygorp -silverstar light

Those are my pics. Now I need some bright fog lights, clear corners, and non-orange turn signals. Let me know if anyone has silver turn bulbs cause I think that will look cleanest on a black car. Also, if anyone knows where i cana get some good looking, not tacky clear corners, and maybe some light bluish or bright white silverstar fogs. I'd appreciate any replies. Happy holidays all.

FIGHT ON, TROJANS!

I use silverstar for my front parking/turn signal lights

What an overnight change (damn snow)

The turn signals still light up orange.

I just installed silverstars in my '92 Corolla, and what a difference. I'd say well worth the money, and a poor mans alternative to hid's, plus hid's are illegal where I live unless they come with the car from the factory. I know of two people who had to take them out.

Yeah, aftermarket HIDs are the only way to go if you plan on failing inspection in most places.

Rules were made to be broken.

Just so what I'm going to do, get it inspected, then throw the lights in.

See out here in Cali they they think we're BMWs and all that good stuff so they tend to back off. HIDs are light that is just rediculous! Everyone has their own opinions!

i work too hard for my money to drop $400-500 for headlights.. i dont think that means im poor.

I got the HID-looking super whites that have a slight tint of blue, and i get tons of compliments on them. Im not an idiot with my money.

After having Silverstars and then buying "ricer" APC bulbs for my SRT, I don't think the Silverstars are worth it.

My friend with an SRT has Silverstars and we had them both facing us at night with the lights on. My $15 hyper white APC bulbs were whiter and brighter than his Silverstars.

Difference is, the Silverstars are from Sylvania and the APCs are from who knows where

When I had my Silverstars I KNEW that I wouldn't have to worry about being in the middle of nowhere and having a light bulb pop on me. I'm on my 2nd set. The first set was brought over from my 2001 Neon when I traded it in. They lasted about 3 years total.
If I buy a pair of Silverstars and they're defective, I know I can call their customer service and they will take care of me.

You're not just paying for 'whiter' or 'brighter' when you spend the extra money for the Sylvanias. Speaking of inspections, the SilverStars are the brightest street legal bulbs you can buy.

I know you must be talking about the headlights and not the fogs.

I too believe in the value of name brands especially when it comes to something as important as headlights. But damn the silverstar foglights burn out way too fast. Is there any other alternative out there. Even if they cost five times as much as the ST fogs, if they last more than a year they are worth it!!

Actually, the fogs burning out was a known issue that Sylvania made good and replaced the bulbs free of charge. There was a discussion with a Sylvania rep who is a member of these forums in the Lighting Modifications forum. If your bulbs burned out, I would suggest calling them and seeing what they can do for you.

Thanks jay, I wish I had kept my reciepts and bulbs. But it really isn't the $20 a pop(no pun intended) but the inconvinece of always having to change out the fogs. I love the performance just not the life span. I did read somewhere here that slyvainia made good on the problem, but I assumed what they did was redesign the fogs so that they weren't always burning out. I know that I have bought 893st from at least several different lot numbers.

One thing though the headlights and the turnsignals are the best, certainly worth the money and then some!!! That's why I just don't get it with the 893st!!!

Rep if your out there please help!
