Default Silverstar Fogs

Sorry this might be a stupid question, but what is the difference between the 880 bulb and the 893 bulb? I visually cannot tell the difference, thanks!

Wattage.

I would like to know the difference between the 893 and 899. 899 is the factory bulb, but I can only find the Sylvania Silverstar 893 that matches the wattage and plug of the 899. I notice lots are running the 893 but there seems to be a rash of them burning out.

well i've tried several sets on my SRT and they dont seem to last more than a month or 2...

i have Silverstars as my headlight bulbs and they have been on my car with no problems for over a year... running the stock fogs as well...

i dont recommend Silverstar fogs, stick with the stock ones.

I picked up some new 893s and used some bulb grease. going to see how long they last, since Sylvania has claimed to fixed the burning out issue. Even though 893 isnt for our cars...

Im using the 880s or w/e and they seem to be doing fine! Light output is good and the light seems to be very clear and match my silverstar headlights. Im happy with them so far...

No 899 listed, unfortunately.

I found it. Both are 37.5 W; there is a difference in the Mean Spherical Candlepower (893 is 75; 899 is 60); and the 893 is rated for 200 hours average lab life while the 899 is rated at 1900 hours.

So apparently an 893 has 25% more "luminous intensity" than an 899, but only 10% of its average life.

Data is from GE, here.

silverstar fogs blow, dont waste your money. mine lasted about 2 months, plus they arent much better than stock fogs and they are still yellow.

They at least match the headlights and aren't nearly as yellow as the stock fogs.

853's will fit the housing and the plug, but they are ~30% brighter.

i found some super white 899 bulbs at a local "speed shop" they were 25 bucks for both and they match my silverstar headlights perfect, plus i've had them about a year and no problems at all
