mine has gone out twice but i think my lense is cracked and i'm getting moisture in there so that's why i think it keeps popping the silverstars..

Default Silver star 893..the sh!t or sh!t?

I too love the light, or at least that they match my silverstar head lights. But damn these things burn out at a almost hilarious rate. I have changed my 893st (at $20 a pop) more than my oil. Now that is no joke, since August I have changed out my right one three times and the left one twice. In other words in four months I have bought seven bulbs. When the first right fog burned out I thought well it must be cuz I was using them too much so I replaced it and started only turning them on very conservatively. But within a week the left blew, I thought well at least now I can have two new bulbs with about the same hours on them (or should I say minutes, maybe even seconds). Now it seems that after four to five times of driving the car for less than 20miles with the fogs on I will have a blown bulb.

Is anyone else having this bad luck? The guy at Checkers thinks I must be crazy to spend so much on bulbs. I know how to change the fogs without touching the bulb or having the bulb touch anything for that matter. My car is in primo shape, no cracks or leaks in the lens. I live in what you would call a paradise climate, no humidity, not too hot or cold.

But damn I hate having to always wonder which bulb is burnt out now. I'm ready to switch to another brand of bulb, just not the original. Cuz I really do like the way the silverstar headlights look. Any suggestions?

I've had the same damn luck.I'm on the third bulb on the drivers side and 2 weeks ago,the passenger side went out.I first installed them a little over a year ago.I'm thinking I may just put the stock fog bulbs back in.

I blew out 3 893 ST's so far, I have the blown bulbs with the original packaging still also, just no receipt. I love the white light coming from the fogs but hate replacing them every so often!

Why don't you guys look into bulbs from other manufacturers? They may not exactly match the Silverstar's, but I can't believe that Silverstar's are worth the hassle of replacing them so frequently.

I've had good luck so far with EuroDezigns fogs. I've got SilverStar headlights with yellow Eurodezigns fogs. It's a nice contrast.
