Default Reverse lights that actually work...

ok, i did more or less the same thing to my jeep. the plan for the srt tho, is a bit more involved. going to pick up some auxiliary lights from napa for 15 bux a pop, and hook them up on the same circuit as my stock reverse lights. i'll be using a relay and running power for the light(s) directly to the battery. also picking up one of those flip up liscense plate holders and wiring that into the reverse circuit as well. so when i shift into reverse, the plate flips down, the lights behind it light up, and i can see behind myself. anyone already tried this? tips, jeers, whatever, it's all appreciated. oh yeah, where the hell do i find one of the flip up plate holders? i've seen em in trucking mags, but can't find any on the net. they're for bagged trucks with a roll pan. it mounts under the rear bumper (roll pan) out of sight, until you flip a switch, then it flips down so you can see it. anyone know what i'm talking about?

Well that sounds pretty creative. I dont even have reverse lights. I have no problem seeing when I back up. I just look at what is behind me before I get in the car. It's amazing how well that works..

HEY. I said it sounds pretty creative! I guarantee that no one else has attempted to do that. I would add some oil squirter's and maybe a flame thrower back there to for those nasty tail gaters. Don't forget the personalized plate that says SLICKSHOES.. Oh wait that's to many digits ..

I have an idea. Why not mount a couple small lights on edges of the third brake light. I was gonna mount sprayers there to spray tailgaters. It could be used for more lights.

You two just need to lighten up. The guy wants to try something new and all you can do is bash on him. Quit being assholes and offer suggestions on why or why not it is do able.

Besides, everyone knows rear firing rocket launchers own oil slicks anyday.

To the original poster I soetimes wish I had more light behind me as well. Only 35% tint on the window and none on the taillights and I often cant see shit using the reverse lights.

Hey great idea!! They could blink with the turn signals. But you have to mix it up. When turning left the right one would blink.. But it would blink very erratically and in completely different time then the factory signal..LOLOL

LMAO!!!!!!

Just playing around. No bashing here. Sounds like he has a good idea on how to go about it. He just needs to find the flip down Night Rider plate frame .

I mounted fogs in my back window of my gti a while back, but those were for tailgaters. You could mount them on your rear deck lid behind the back seat. For the plate, check into motorcycle accessory stores. I have one on my bike, a flip of the switch and it flips the plate up for high speed riding. I cant remember where I ordered it from because it was a couple years ago.

I had backup lights mounted under the rear bumper of my Grand Cherokee. It really helped in offroad situations at night, since my windows back there were factory tinted.

I dont see the need in my SRT, since there's no tint, and i dont take it offroad in pitch-black forests. Does sound interesting though, especially the swing up and out of sight part.

O yah, and how are u gonna put all that stuff under the car? There isnt much room to play with having the exhuast in there.
