Probably wont fit very well. They look to be wider and shorter(in height) than our stock lights.

actually, if i recall, 00-02 headlights are the same shape as 03+...they just have the turn signal on the outside...

in fact, i'm sure they're the same because i know people with 00-02 neons, that swap to the 03+ front end (and vise versa)

i've seen them fitted, too.
however, no offense, but the quality of those projectors suck.

Hak will chime in soon and tell you the same thing..then again, i'm sure they're still better than stock. haha

There are previous threads on this very same topic and item in question.

Actually the gen 2s are not as tall as 2003 and up headlights, thus cause a small gap.

The reason why your friends swap worked is because they swapped everything, including the bumper.

Take this pic of evilcreations neon. He made the 2002 and earlier headlights fit but after much cutting and you'll notice how it doesn't exactly fit like it should. Gaps. Etc...

Yes they sucketh

They do create a sharp decent cutoff but the beam output is not worth a damn.

There are pics on 2gn.org and neons.org IIRC
