Default Resealing a headlight

I have a headlight with condensation in it. So I heated it up in the oven and opened it. Cleaned it out, now it is time to reseal. I found the leak in an area where the glue was just to thin. Can I add some hot glue in the track before i reseal them(hot glue from a glue stick)? In addition to the oem glue? Them cover the seal with some rtv.

you can hit a local nissan dealership and get some tail light sealant. that will work better than hot glue, and if needs be will be easier to take back apart.

Just tried it and its a kinda. Turns out the glue i have needs 250F to melt, I was able to partially install the lens and glue started to bind in the seams. So I cut all away but a thin film and reheated. Definetly not the correct sealant, but it will work.

I wouldnt use hot glue. I would have put them back together and used clear silicone around the edges. Or bought some 3m window weld which is the same as nissan butyl.

You can get the 3M window weld online for a reasonable price.

Or after you're sealed it back up using the original selant you can go to the hardware store & get some silicone sealant & run a bead of that around the part where lens & housing meet. Then take your finger & smooth it out. Allow that to dry overnight before you re-install.

Also there's a little rubber washer that goes around the turnsignal. Often when taking the headlights out they fall off & don't get re-installed causing a major leak. Also when switching to an aftermarket housing, it can stick to the stock housing & you won't even realize it. Always check for that little bad boy.

You can also use RTV. It's not the "recommended" method, but it does indeed work.
