Default Removed fog retro, now messing with ebay halo fogs

My driver side retro fog light started getting really dim a few months ago. I disconnected the harness and left it like that for a few months because of how cold it was. I decided today to remove them and see what was up.

Driver on the left, and passenger on the right. The chrome on the bowl was completely gone. The passenger side was bubbling a little bit. So the bowls went in the garbage. I bought a set of the ebay halo fogs and was trying to figure out what I was going to do with them. I had another set of blazers, but they were a little too wide. I decided to keep the projector that was in there, and fired it up with new 3000k h3 hid bulbs I got in the mail today. Heres an output shot.

Absolutely awful. Once you open them up, you really see how crappy these are made. The chrome on the bowl seems durable, but its pretty dull. The shield is very thick, which was hurting the sharpness of the cutoff line. One of the screws holding the bulb in place, actually pushed through on the bowl of the projector. You can tell these are made in china. The thing I like is the lens is actually glass, rather than plastic like the oem fogs. Hopefully a rock on the freeway wont crack the glass.

Next I pulled the shield from the blazers, which is shinier and thinner. I formed it to shape and came up with this. With this pic they were just squeezed in to place and not yet mounted.

Its hard to tell from the pics, but its actually a little wider, and alot sharper. Im going to do some more fine tuning and get rid of the bowing, and see if I can make it a little sharper. Output is better, but the hot spots along the left edge kind of bothers me. The blazers output is so much better, but I guess I will have to live with it. I cant really twist the bulb, because h3 bulbs have two tabs that hold it in place. With the blazers 880 bulbs, you can twist them and move the hot spot to suit your needs.

This is the new shield installed. I soldered it in place to hold it where I needed it, then I used a little jb weld.

I painted the angel eyes black and should have them installed tomorrow.

So did you instal a flat shield or another curved one with a thinner piece of metal roofing flashing?

Hmm, my eBay halo fogs look totally different. Are you reflector bowls plastic or metal?

Its the shield from the blazer fogs I had for my retro. Its thin and curved. I bent them around a little until the cutoff was nice and sharp.

I left the chrome ring around the projector. Driver side isnt working. I killed the battery last night, because I kept firing them up for testing. I installed this morning and both fogs were strobing when I tried to turn them on. I jumped the car and now only the passenger side works. Once I get more free time this weekend im going to swap bulbs and see if I killed the bulb or the ballast. My horn isnt working either, and the relay and fuse are both good so something is going on.

Its metal thats coated with that chrome material. One projector was most shiny with a couple dull spots, and the other was pretty dull with a few shiny spots. I would be willing to bet theres a few different projectors going in these things depending on what they have on hand.

They are both working now. I guess my battery didnt have enough juice in it to fire up both. I will take some night shots this weekend once I get them aimed.

That's what I figured, as Crystal told me that hers use the OEM 8XX bulb size, while mine us H3's.
