Default relay harness

will any relay harness work for a hid kit for are cars.....i'm asking because i brought these relay harnesses and they have these gold resistors and they conduct heat and i think these harnesses are over kill....the place that sold me them said you can't use the regular one because it only has one female connect the goes to the stock harness. and that we need that hooked up to both sides....i looked at the how to's but its not making sense to me....also the instrutions say to hook the red power and ground up to the battery and the how to says to the fuse box and then ground it out to the front....the kit i brought was good cause its plug and play....and it has 2 female connectors, for both sides but the resistors i dont like and it makes more wires.

I made my own...40amp relay, 5$? some 10 gauge wire I had laying around...inline fuse holder was a few bucks, add in the proper crimped ends to connect to the relay and you got yourself a harness.

I just want to take a moment to say "I told you so"

I told you that I have what you needed for $25 in stock & ready to go. I believe also I told you that you can save a few bucks going the ebay route but you usually get what you pay for or loose that savings once you pay an inflated shipping fee.

I have a simple, tested, & proven product to go along with the neon specific how-to. I'm not getting rich off of selling HID's... I just want everyone to have something nice for cheap & easy to do. Why give your money to some ebay seller who doesn't give a damn about you or getting your set-up correct? I promise to get you what you need with good customert service & tech support. I'm not trying to make you feel like a dumb ass but just trying to make a point that I've done all the hard work for you... take advantage of it.

I'm sorry you're having difficulty with that harness & yes it is overkill for the neon. Sometimes those resisitors can solve issue with the newer dodge/ chrysler vehicles that are smarter when it comes to burned out bulbs & triggers a code or caused flashing & other issues. If you take a picture of the harness all layed out we can much better answer your questions.

^25$ is about right if you factor in the costs of the wiring/harness pieces (supplies)/fuses-holder/relay(s)/tools to crimp/time put into it.

The 9007 Male plug is like $6 alone. It's a sweet price.. trust me, I make $0 of the harness's. I believe all HID kist should have them so I basically sell them for cost just so people won't have an excuse.

I got 2 ballasts off a friend for $25, included 10k bulbs for an unknown socket, one was broke anyways. I ordered some 8k 9007's off ebay and they came with 2 of those male plugs -> what you would connect to the ballast's power...sorta like a stock wiring to power the ballasts. I just used one of them to switch my relay on, lucked out there ha. Not to sure why they came with those though.

I have a box with about 5 sets of those just in case someday... haha! They are the power wires that come with the kits. When using a relay harness you remove those & run the power through the wiring harness instead.

Lol I'm new to all this I thought all relays were the same... So only one side gets plugged up to the stock harness? And just put tape over the stock connect? So what happens to the male connector that come with the 9007 bulb? I have the hi- Lo 9007 bulb? Will I lose that but not connecting both side? Right now they werk fine without the relay.... Also your how is confusing me.... The diagram say to hook up the red and back wires to the battery and hook it up to the fuse box then to the frame? And is the fog light hooked up the same way? In your how you were cutting that rubber groment off to elminate the stock harness connector....Do you have the relays in stock 880/9007? Because I returned the relays I had.

You can hook up the red power wire to the batter or the terminal in the fuse box (it's your preference).

I'm running a seperate relay harness on both the headlights & fog lights (2 relay harness's total).

If you have a hi-low kit then you'll need a specific relay harness for then. I'd use the one that it came with or contact the business you bought it from. How that's helpful or clears things up some?

Yeah I relized that and I keep one of those kits with the gold resistors. You need both side connector for the hi Lo to werk....I put the relay on yesterday and for now I'm using the one relay for the fogs untill the place sends the reg. Relay, then ill which them and put the heavy duty one for the hi Lo and other one for the fog. On a side... The fogs are extra bright! I try to aim them down because it was too much

The resistors get real hot so I had to make sure no wire or plastic was near. I'll take pix and show you were I mounted them.

That location should be fine for those as it's mounted on metal & there's no plastic or runner near to melt.

The fogs are bright as hell. I had to point them down soem as well. Looks like it's all coming together for you

Yeah it's working out so far...fogs are f-ing bright, they don't match the headlights and there both 8k.. It's mostly because it don't have that little sheild in font of the bulb like the headlights do. But for the most part it looks good. Thanks for your help on this one , all of you that answered me. I know I'm a pain in ass sometimes but I like to make sure I'm doing the right thing before I even touch the car. Now I still have one relay to run and that's
it...gonna buy some led bulbs for the blinkers.
