Yes, it's me again with my LED addiction and something new to post up. These are not finished in these shots as I still have to sink the grilles a bit more and shave them but this gives you a general idea of what they look like. There was too much dampening on the rear deck after I custom upholstered it and removed the tether strap anchor covers so I figured I would open it up a bit.
I searched for speaker grilles which had a style I liked. Yes the speakers are Kicker and the grilles are Eclipse, but once I remove the lettering that won't be an issue.
There are five (5)mm pink pre-wired LEDs from Oznium underneath each grille. They are all soldered into one power wire and one ground wire per grille. They meet up and use the trunk light as their main power source. (Remember the trunk is lit by TWO 28" long pink flexible LED strips). These are for show use only, and will only be lit when the trunk is open at shows.
I realize much like the cupholder lights, Audi DRLs, trunk LEDs, etc. some people aren't going to like this but again my car is built for a different purpose than most other SRTs. So comments/opinions are welcome.
The grilles themselves:
The underside before soldering, the tape was holding them in place so the silicone could set. But I decided against using the silicone in the long run and opted for the rubber butyl as it was far more pliable.
Soldered directly into the power/ground for the trunk light spliced into two so that the trunk LEDs are using it as a power source also. I upped the gauge on the wires so that it wouldn't be an issue although all together they barely draw anything.
LOL I shouldn't need to do anything like that since it's rare that they are all running at once. Even still no upgraded alternators are offered and I'd have to suffice with an 03 alternator being that it's more powerful than the 04s and 05s. They barely draw anything though
