I've spoken with another manufacturer on developing a projector headlight from high quality components (German). There's a few questions that they have that we would want to be real clear on before proceeding.
1. HID, or Non-HID projectors (will significantly effect price)?
2. Is it important to you to keep the outer lens?
3. Single bulb, or dual-bulb (seperate high and low beam surfaces)?
4. What would you realistically pay for this type of upgrade?
5. On a scale of 1-10 where 1 is "Definately not" and 10 is "Definately would" how likely wold you be to purchase this type of product.
Please respond EVEN if you don't plan on making this type of purchase.

1. HID
2. nope
3. dual
4. who care's, as long as it does it's job
5. 100000000000

i'll stick with my own projectors. No matter what company makes what, I know none of them will use the right projectors that I crave so I just will stick to making my own. Don't get me worng, its just that I know these manufacturers aren't going to be popping in badass Stanley made HID projector units. However, I may use a housing or two and rip out the guts for a retro depending on how yours might come out looking. Either way its good to see someone trying to make something affordable for everyone and what the masses want.
1. Open to both, depends on price
2. nope, in fact I prefer that it doesn't to keep price down
3. which ever keeps the price down
4. $300 without HID/$600 with HID
5. 10
1. HID will add quite a bit to the price, this is not completely necessary, but would be nice if you can have it as an option.
2. Exposed projectors would be my preference, rather than a lense covering them. Non-covered would allow an addition of a washer system. Plus I hate the "retro" look.
3. Definitely seperater, unless you want to make it crazy expensive, you pretty much HAVE to have the high and low beam seperate.
4. I already got burned on a group buy for 600-700 price range. If you can get a kit under 900 you'll make me happy.
5. If you don't make it, I'm making it myself...that's how bad I want this.

not everyone has ur talent or time but we all know nobody can make them perfect and keep costs down.
I would be happy w/ something like u showed before Jon. Either chrome or black housing. I could really careless.

Hak has a great point here. If you could sell just the housing, that would be great as well, that way those of us that want more expensive projectors can have that as an option.
The idea on the exposed projector is that the manufacturer already has DOT/SAE FMVSS108 approval on all the components (which would speed things up). But once it becomes enclosed the whole assembly need to be resubmitted for testing. We would want to keep things 50 state legal and that's the simplest way.
1- non-HID to save money and to make it plug & play
2- yes...outer lense please
3- single
4- as little as possible...lol...500 would be nice
5- 11.9 (black housing preferably)

I never said or acted like everyone has to do what I do. I'm a nut about HID and a nitpick for the right projectors. If its not the best, I don't want it. I'll take the best optics and performance over looks is what i'm saying. He asked for everyones input, so I gave it to him. You are right though, to keep it affordable and cost down, the sacrifice has to come somewhere.

This particular manufacturer's part would be considered anything but a compromise. But I DEFINATELY want any input there is.
