Ppl w/ Projector Headlights .. I got questions!!

I'm thinking of buying a pair of projector headlights from MPX and doing a retro fit on them. Now my question is for you ppl who have them/ installed them.. does there look like there is an opening to remove the halogen projectors and swap the new ones in ?

And also what is the diameter of the projectors ? thanks

I'm almost positive you will be able to unbolt them from the housing. Most aftermarket projector headlights are made very similar and todays stuff is mass produced at a huge rate. So you can almost be rest assured that you can swap the dinky halogen for a genuine HID projector.

Lens diamter will probably be 2.25 or 2.5. Others are 3" but from the looks of this unit, it doesn't look like a 3". Could be wroung though. I don't think anyone here has opened theirs up. Maybe MPX would send me a set and I could see what the viable options for you guys would be . Kidding of course but I would do it if anyone sent me their pair for opening and for interior dimensions.

hak i'd be more than happy to ship u mine when i get them. As long as they can be put back together, i'm fine with that.

I wanted to install some tsx or e55 projectors. But not sure now. b/c of the size.

E55 might be a toughy as its somewhat of a bulky projector. TSX could be a strong possibility. The main dimension to look for on TSX clearance is they have a wide mounting area as well as the bowl is almost oblong in shape. I think an E46 would probably be the most ideal and easiest projector to retro in but i'm sure its not the only one

I'd be more than happy to open them for you. I can also reseal them up.

They would not have to be bi-xenon because these housings are dual-lamp housings, reflectors for the high beam and projector for the lows.

I'd do a retro if someone proved they would fit.

Yes you don't have to have bi-xenon, but I'll tell you from experince when I had bi-xenon + stock halogen high beams on my teg, having quad highbeam power is NIIICE

If there is room to house a bi-xenon, then I'd go for it just for that fact alone. However I know the inside of this housing is going to be somewhat limited on "free" space. Will probably have to be once of the smaller single xenon projectors. Bi-xenon that might fit would be like a FX since its the smallest.

I don't do retros anymore. I wished I could help but I no longer have a Neon or SRT so even if I wanted to do a retro, I couldn't because there would be no way to have them aimed and aligned.

subscribed interested to see where this goes...

just to get this straight... your gonna try to swap out the mpx projector lamps for some better/higher quality lamps correct..?

i'm a little confused because Hak said he doesn't do retros anymore but isn't this swap kind of a retro fit anyhow?

thanx

I will most likely be sending Hak my mpx projector headlights.
If hes interested , he will open them up and get dimensions for us. Telling us which projectors will work and what not.
Then "we" as in srt4 community will have to go out on our own and pull the halogen projectors out and install the recommended upgrade.

On a side note.

I wanna color match the mpx ones to my car.
